Is God Mad or is God Wonderful? by Jeremy Lopez

By Jeremy Lopez

I have read many reports, articles and emails recently on tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc and heard many wild stories concerning who did this.  I have so many people today, especially in the prophetic movement who think God is angry and can't tolerate any more of our nonsense. I remember watching certain 'Christian' TV shows that had the number 700 in it and how the host along with many others constantly talked about how the Lord has 'had enough' and how America is being punished for this and for that. I see so many people displaying a mean God and never taking the time to see who their Father really is.

I want to show you how wonderful, loving, patient and kind our heavenly Father is towards us and those in the world.

Let's first take a look at the famous prodigal son story in the book of Luke.

The Parable of the Lost Sheep

Luke 15:11-31 (NIV) 11 Jesus continued: "There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of the estate.' So he divided his property between them.

13 "Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.

17 "When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.' 20 So he got up and went to his father.

"But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

21 "The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'

22 "But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate.

25 "Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27 'Your brother has come,' he replied, 'and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.'

28 "The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29 But he answered his father, 'Look! All these years I've been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!'

31 "My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.'"

I want you to pay attention to the father's attitude the entire time. Notice that he never got mad at his 'prodigal son' or said, "I have had enough of my children sinning, I need to get them good with some tornado, earthquake or some kind of catastrophe." In fact, in this story there is a record of a severe famine in the land that happened. Did the Father do it because he was mad because his younger son "did some dumb things," "left him," sinned, etc? NO! It was just something that happened. Could it be even concerning storms, it is just by natural causes? Because of the system in the church, now the media has taken their words and say, when things happen, it is an "act of God."  How sad.

The prodigal son parable is the perfect example of a father's heart toward his children. The Bible says that the Lord is "slow to anger."  God poured all of His wrath and judgment upon Christ. Which means, if He poured His wrath upon God, He does not have anymore to give! If He poured out His wrath upon His only begotten Son and then took it back, according to His Word, He would be "double minded and unstable in all of His ways."  Remember, He "honors His Word above His name" so if He pours it out then takes it back or reserves any for a later time, can He truly be trusted if He does not do what He says He is going to do?

Notice the father in the story which is a perfect example of our heavenly Father. He remains patient, loving, kind and "FILLED WITH COMPASSION." If you pay close attention to the story, the ONLY ONE MAD WAS THE ELDER BROTHER. There is a system WITHIN the church that remains mad and speaks for God and tells us he is mad, angry; ready to get revenge for the abortionist, gays, etc. Come one people, haven't we seen the elder brother's anger long enough? We wonder why people are leaving the church DAILY (check out statistic) because the system has portrayed our ABBA (DADDY) AS A MEAN GOD. He is ABBA Father.

He Only Speaks Through His Son Today, That's It!

Hebrews 1:1 "In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word."

NOW HE SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS SON! YOU SEE GOD DOES NOT CHANGE BUT THE WAY HE SPEAKS TO US DOES! HIS SON JESUS IS LOVE!

Whatever you see Jesus talk about, you talk about! Whatever you do not hear Jesus talk about, you don't talk about! Last time I checked, He never blew up abortion clinics, rallied to ban gay rights, or bashed the president . In fact, He even told the people to 'give to Ceasar what belongs to Ceasar.' He never one time said anything ugly against Ceasar and yet, Ceasar was a mean ruler. It is time to wake up and realize Jesus loved people! He showed them a better way in life without condemnation, without fear, without threat. This was the Father talking through His son NOW.

So you see, if the Lord says, "All good things flow down from the Father of lights." That means bad things don't flow down! If everything flowed down He would have just said, "Everything flows down from Me" but He didn't.  He said, "All GOOD things flow down." He even goes on to say, "In Me there is no shadow of turning."  God will not change His mind on good things flowing down to us!

How Does God Love and Forgive?

In other words, he says in His word, "forgive 70 x 7". This means, "unlimited, unconditional." So we are commanded to forgive just the church? Just those that believe like us? NO, EVERYONE! So we are commanded to forgive anyone and everyone that does us wrong. Now, if He tells us, "You forgive everyone and anyone that does you wrong, but don't expect Me to forgive. I have My limits!" That would be a total hypocrite! Last time I checked, a hypocrite is someone who SAYS ONE THING BUT DOES ANOTHER!

My parents were always my example. I could never ever imagine them doing anything in front of me and tell me, "do as I say not as I do." Some parents that think like that are warped. Jesus even said the same thing a good parent would, "I only do what I see My Father do, I only say what I hear My Father say."  Why? Because He knew that His Father was the example. Not a person who tells us one thing and does another.

So you see, God is a wonderful, loving, merciful, gracious God, Father and friend. Let's learn to walk the same way toward everyone in church and out of church. Leave the system (not the church) today that is embedded in the church. It speaks of a mean God who will get you if you quit serving the law. Remember, the law kills, Jesus brings life.

I love you and your Abba Father in heaven loves you too just the way you are.
