Years ago before the twins and Liberty were born. My wife and I were out of everything in the house and had no money. We were out of everything from toilet paper to formula and diapers for our firstborn son. We had prayed for days for the money to come and God just didn't seem to answer. Then one night, I believe it was a Sunday night we went to church and there was a guest speaker there speaking that night and he would be there for a few nights speaking on doing street evangelism and holding revival meetings.

Years ago before the twins and Liberty were born. My wife and I were out of everything in the house and had no money. We were out of everything from toilet paper to formula and diapers for our firstborn son. We had prayed for days for the money to come and God just didn't seem to answer. Then one night, I believe it was a Sunday night we went to church and there was a guest speaker there speaking that night and he would be there for a few nights speaking on doing street evangelism and holding revival meetings.
 
I sat there with my wife the first night and listened as he gave his testimony and while I sat there I felt the Lord tell me to go out of the church and preach to people on the streets. I fought it for a while but it was strong and I thought but I really didn't know how yet he hadn't taught on it yet. I also thought that it may be the devil telling me to do it to get me out of the church and so I would miss something so I didn't want to go but after a while fighting with it I told my wife I had to run somewhere quick and that I would be back. I didn't tell anyone what I was going to do.
 
So I left the church and hit the streets. I went up to a group of kids and none of them wanted to hear about Jesus and asked me to quit bothering them. I tried to go up to people walking the streets but people saw me coming and walked on the opposite side of the street. I even went to the gas station and knocked on car windows and they would roll down their window and I would preach to them and they would laugh at me and drive off. It didn't go so well so I thought I knew for sure I had heard from the devil. I walked back to the church with my head down thinking I had just heard from the devil and that the man preaching who I didn't know is going to hear from God and point me out and tell everyone I had heard from the devil.

So I made it back to the church and sat down next to my wife with a downcast heart and five minutes later the man preaching said you in the back and pointed at me, "come up here." I thought this is it - he is hearing from God and is going to rebuke me in front of everyone. But I was going to take it like a man and I went up there with my head held high. I got up there and he put his arm around me and said this guy gets it. He is walking with the Lord and you should watch his life and a whole bunch of other things about me.
 
He then prayed over me and told the deacons to pass the offering plate around and take up an offering for me. I couldn't believe it not only did I not get rebuked but this guy was taking up an offering for my needs. We didn't know this man and we never told anyone in the church we had a need or was praying and I never told anyone where I was going. It was totally God.
 
They took up the offering plate and there was over a thousand dollars in there. It was enough to meet our needs and then some. I ended up giving a lot of it away and taking what we needed. But the Bible says seek first the kingdom of heaven and all these things will be added onto you. That's what I did by being obedient and listening to the Lord by preaching on the streets and the Lord met our needs and then some. I have all kinds of testimonies like this of the Lord doing amazing things, God is good

I have been a Christian for many years now. And over the years God has done some amazing things. But there was one thing that was hard to miss and that was the things that were wrong with the church. It has caused me much pain and even had caused me to leave Christianity at one point. It actually wasn't the only factor in my decision to do so but it certainly was a big contributor. The thing is though what I have found is that I saw some of the same issues with secular organizations that I joined and with non-Christians. A theme seemed to be there, and all the same problems arose.
Some people want to be loved by others. They feel they need the love of their father, mother, friends, spouse, girlfriend/boyfriend, their children, strangers, and even God. They go looking for love in all kinds of places from all kinds of people. But the truth is, the person who matters most to love you is you. You need your love more than anyone else's. As the saying goes, how can you love others unless you love yourself.
I once saw someone who I haven't seen in years and upon seeing them I asked them how they were doing? They replied that they are living the dream. Nowadays to say living the dream may mean the opposite while to others it is a reality.  To many people living the dream seems impossible though. And can you blame them? Their lives didn't go as planned and things are not going their way. But the fact remains that deep down in each of us lies dreams. Dreams to achieve incredible things. Dreams to be more than what others say we are.  People love to put limits on others and we even put limits on ourselves so many people never see the dream come true.
