Facing Impossible Situations by Dr. Kluane Spake

By Kluane Spake
Many feel more discouraged than ever! How bad is the situation you're facing today? I can't even remember anymore how many times I've complained, "That's it. I can't take anymore. Life is too hard." Surely, there have been more times than I care to admit – especially being a so called, "preacher of Faith!" Life has certainly turned out to be far more difficult than I ever imagined. We've all experienced some sort of loss and suffering during our lives, some more than others. But, when everything is said and done, each of us should ask ourselves, "Will we barely survive this life and drag into God's presence being a victim? I mean, How about NO more victimization at all?" Not! What I've finally learned over the years is to get rid of self-help tapes and forget about motivational seminars. Never mind what worked for other people.

And — I don't need one more second heaven "word" to get me through. Solving symptoms turns out to be a lousy way of facing life.

What can we do when friends and those we trusted disappoint us over and OVER? When sickness comes? When great financial loss happens? When jobs fail. When dreams are deferred?

The basic problems most of us down deep co-habitate with are lots of fear and lack of trust. We forget that HOW we respond to life's situations is our choice.

He Alone Gives Us Strength

It's sounds simple to say, "Today, I choose to face the FEAR of the unknown with confidence. I choose to believe and trust in the One Who created us. Today, I choose courage and faith."

It sounds simple, but it is the most difficult thing to do, especially when those really impossible situations stare us in the face over and over again. In times like this, we feel like we can't even pray. It looks like God has decided to move to some other planet. Our emotions and feelings turn out to be dreadfully unreliable. They transform with every external influence.

The Lord speaks out clearly beyond any excuses for doubt. He alone gives us the strength to press into tomorrow with renewed faith. Can we trust in God, even when He seems sooooo far away?

We HOPE that things work out right. It's not a hope like wanting to win the lottery. It's not a hope like when we "hope" that we don't catch a cold. Or, we "hope" that we have a good weekend. That unrenewed kind of hope is weak, hesitant, and uncertain. It gives up when situations don't change when we think they should.

But, real HOPE (the anchor of our soul) never gives up, even when everything is delayed, postponed – didn't go our way, or even when it seems that everything has failed.

"And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you." Ps 39:7 (NLT)

"Your word is my ONLY SOURCE of hope" (Ps 119:114, NLT)

But hope is not enough when we are faced with impossible situations. We must move into authentic FAITH (and not presumption).

My friend, we have long said that, "FAITH is the substance of genuine hope." However, this statement must become our reality rather than our robotic mantra. FAITH IS the certain and trustful anticipation and unmovable assurance concerning things that are still not seen and remain in our future.

Lots of people through history have faced impossible situations. What matters MOST is our response. Let's consider, "In the middle of my predicament or crisis, how can I respond properly?"

The "woman with the issue of blood" shows us some keys to overcoming. Look at what she did to demonstrate faith (Mk. 5).

POSITIONING: First her FAITH took her to where Jesus was.

This woman bled for twelve years. For all this time, she was a total social outcast. According to Levitical law, she was "unclean" and therefore, everything she TOUCHED became unclean. She couldn't touch her kids or her husband. She had to wear clothes that indicated she was unclean. And everywhere she went, she had to cry out and warn everyone else, "Unclean, unclean!"

Can you imagine being a social outcast for a month? Or, a year? How about twelve years?

Not only that, but she was totally out of money… (Sound familiar?) She had gone everywhere for help and had no place left to turn. Everything was lost.

We read that her hope was stirred when she heard that Jesus was in that town – and she decided to find Him.

ACTION: Her HOPE moved her into FAITH. She trusted that Jesus had the answer she needed. Her HOPE motivated her Faith! Her faith resulted in one action. She crawled through the crowds until she could TOUCH Him. She believed her answer was in touching Him.

If you're facing an impossible situation, have you really touched God? I mean really connected – even before asking for intercessors?

Jesus did not rebuke her for being unclean. He perceived her (who touched me?) and allowed virtue to pour out of Himself. Her faith was the connection that brought sozo and made her well.

CONFESSION: This woman did not speak doubt and discouragement – but only spoke the faith of her intention, "If I can touch the hem."

I know! I know — you've heard this before!! But… you and I need to keep hearing!

Jesus is our High Priest of our CONFESSION and He intercedes together with us. Our trembling words may seem insignificant, but when Jesus comes into agreement (because they are His thought and intentions), He validates them with His intercession, incredible things happen! "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23 (NKJV)

HOLDING fast means that many situations are not easy. We can't take anything for granted. Our confession is something that we must learn to "hold fast." Undo pressures that come into our lives tend to break us from the HOLD on our confession. We have to hold fast.

The angel Gabriel told Mary, "With God, nothing will be impossible for you (Mat. 17:20, NIV). That means… NOTHING is IMPOSSIBLE.

Mary's response to Gabriel was, "Let it be to me according to your WORD" (Luke 1:38). Her confession came into alignment with the purposes of God.

We need to get this! Rather than remaining in unbelief about your situation, you need to make confession of your unmovable faith in God's purposes. The Greek word "confession" is "homologeo" (hom-ol-og-eh'-o); which means to assent, acknowledge, speak the same thing, to agree with, to declare. It is an open, bold, courageous declaration of faith.

So even though you have heard it before, let's imprint it this time. Real confession says what the Word of God says. Hebrews tells us that the High Priest of the Melchizedek order is the High Priest of our confession! Confession stems from a profound, inward assurance. Confession is fully agreeing with God's Word from a deep, inward conviction. Confession is the courageous declaration of your faith in what God says.

Correct confession changes our mind-set. Jesus is our High Priest today. He intercedes for us according to our confession.

"Whoever confesses me before men," Jesus promised, "I will also confess him before my Father in heaven" (Mt. 10:32). God can give us no better assurance than this. When we pray and speak God's Word in His name, He makes our confession legitimate (He backs it up; He confirms & establishes what we confess here on earth.

Happy are Those….

I have no idea what's happening with you right now. You may be disappointed, sick, facing bankruptcy, tragedy, loss of a job. Maybe nobody can "fix it."

Wherever you are, just remember these words, "Happy are those who hear the joyful sound (clamor, joyful battle-cry, blowing the Jubilee trumpet) to worship, for they will WALK IN THE LIGHT OF YOUR PRESENCE, LORD. They rejoice all day long in your wonderful reputation — Our power is based on your favor" (Ps. 89:15-17 NLT).

Do you know the anticipation of the joyful shout over and through all adversity?

All of your disappointment, pain, and sorrow were already laid on that Cross and lifted high between heaven and earth. What you go through, the Lord already went through with us and for us. He commands us, "Sorrow not." TRUST. What happens next is up to Him.

Be empowered to face the impossible. Let your confession be watered by the streams of His high places. Let each trial become another stepping-stone. Run INTO the Lord. Surrender your self-will. Let this impossible place of today become the memory of accomplishment and overcoming! God loves you. He created you for His pleasure.

My friend, this is not the end. It is just the beginning.
