The upcoming tetrad of full lunar eclipses is certainly "the talk of the town" among Judeo Christian communities. These four full lunar eclipses are being labeled as "blood moons" and are to happen on the Jewish Feast of Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles in both 2014 and 2015.

The name "blood moon" is derived from the bloody red color, which sometimes appears over the whole eclipsed moon during a full lunar eclipse. What is the significance of these heavenly events?

End of the World?

From every walk of life and religions there are questions concerning heavenly signs; questions especially concerning the upcoming four "blood moons."  We see in scripture that the moon is noted as having an appearance of blood. This coloration of the moon is associated with what is called the "great and notable day of the Lord."  "Blood moons" are associated with the "last days."  What is the great and notable day of the Lord? What and when are the last days?

God's Moon is Good

We are told in scripture that God has specific purposeful functions for the heavenly luminaries who include but are not exclusive to the sun, moon and stars. God created all things in six days. On the fourth day God created the following:

Then God said, "Let there be lights (sun, moon and stars) in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so. God made the two great lights, the greater light (SUN) to govern (grant dominion over) the day, and the lesser light (MOON) to govern (grant dominion over) the night; He made the stars also. God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day. Genesis 1:14-19 NASB

God's Good Moon Gives us Dominion Over the Darkness of Night

The sun, moon and stars primary function is to separate day and night. Also these lights are for signs, seasons, dates and years and to give light on the earth. The sun and the moon are the greater lights with the sun being greater than the moon. The sun grants humanity dominion over the day. The moon grants humanity dominion over the darkness of night. God saw all of this as good!

The Heavens Ain't Talking No Trash

The Psalmist David said…

The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Psalm 19:1 NASU

Wow! God gave His heavenly hosts eyes to see and a voice to bless sons of God.

In light of the upcoming four "blood" moons (first blood moon is past) we should be looking for the goodness and glory of God. God placed the moon in the heavens so that we His people would have dominion over the darkness.

The upcoming tetrad of full lunar eclipses (first happened in spring of 2014 at Passover) are a part of God's goodness in giving us signs of the present condition or atmosphere of the heart of man. These four full lunar eclipses coincide with Passover and Tabernacles in both 2014 and 2015.

First the Natural Then the Spiritual

The alignment of the sun, earth and moon sets up a natural and spiritual portrait of the earth's atmosphere. As the sun releases its light over the entirety of the earth it produces specific colors on the moon. The color projected on the moon is an indicator of the natural composition of the earth's atmosphere. Prophetically speaking the atmosphere of the earth is a product of the hearts of men (Matthew 13…the kingdom of heaven). On the second day of creation God created an expanse called heaven, which includes the present atmosphere around us. Adam and Eve enjoyed this heaven on earth in a location called the Garden of Eden or Paradise.

On the fourth day of creation God began at the circle of clouds, which He created on the second day and created the higher heavens, sun, moon, stars etc.

Noted above is the fact that these four upcoming lunar eclipses coincide with the Jewish feasts of Passover and Tabernacles. Passover is the first of seven major annual Jewish feasts with Tabernacles being the seventh and final feast of the year. These seven feasts represent the whole process of redemption unto life. Passover of course represents the shedding of Christ's blood for the life of all mankind. When the children of Israel applied the blood of the lamb to the doorposts of their dwellings the death angel passed over granting the surety of life.

The Feast of Tabernacles again is the seventh and final major feast, which is a celebration of God's presence in His fullness in each of us as temples (tabernacles) of God.

Oh How God Loves His Created!

I believe that the God ordained loving act of presenting the world with these four lunar eclipses is an indicator of God's desire for His children to walk in the fullness of the shed blood and resurrection. Jesus shed his blood to end the shedding of blood. As long as the projection of the earth's atmosphere displays a "blood red" color, my understanding is that there is work to be done to consummate the age of sin in the world. There should be no blood shed after Christ shed his blood.

A blood moon is an indicator that we have work to do. The good news is that Passover thru Tabernacles is symbolic of our perfection thus the ability in Christ to alleviate the earth of continued bloodshed. When the moon literally is white during a lunar eclipse we know that we have overcome the shedding of blood.

NASA Article Excerpt

In an article written by a NASA engineer he asks us to picture ourselves on the dusty moon looking back toward earth during the time of a full lunar eclipse. He says our view would be an earth encircled with sunlight reflecting every sunrise and sunset. This speaks to my heart in implying that every daily earthly activity is exposed by the sunlight. The sun is symbolic of the spirit of God. The moon is symbolic of the souls of men.

These blood moons are like progress reports given in our education system. These reports reflect the current standing in the educational maturing process. Also these reports give recommendations concerning specific areas where students may be lacking and also commendations on areas of exemplary work.

It is important in the understanding and functionality of heavenly signs that we see them not so much as future events but as present indicators of present conditions. It is impossible to function in the future. It is our "now" that determines our tomorrow - a tomorrow which arrives only to be called now!

No Need for Sunlight, Moonlight or Starlight

I saw no temple in it (New Jerusalem) for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed; and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it.  Revelation 21:22-26 NASB

My Granddaughter's Perspective of the Moon

My granddaughter, who at age three lived near Dallas, Texas, had a "moon" declaration. My wife would call when the moon was visible and have our granddaughter look at the moon and say, "I see the moon and moon sees me: God bless the moon and God bless me!"

God Don't Talk No Trash

A rock and roll band called Creedence Clearwater Revival sang a song titled, "Bad Moon Rising."

My understanding is that a young Christian member of the band wrote this song. No doubt probably came from a "negative" approach to end time revelation.

I see the bad moon a-rising
I see trouble on the way
I see earthquakes and lightnin'
I see bad times today

Chorus:

Don't go around tonight
Well, it's bound to take your life
There's a bad moon on the rise

I hear hurricanes a-blowing
I know the end is coming soon
I fear rivers over flowing
I hear the voice of rage and ruin

Hope you got your things together
Hope you are quite prepared to die
Looks like we're in for nasty weather
One eye is taken for an eye

Charge

Rejoice, because God has given believers ALL POWER to declare a GOOD MOON A'RISIN
