I'm 42 years old and still have not met my mate for life.  Now, you may think this is going to be a sob story or a mental justification of how great it is to have my single life, but this article isn't any of those things.

This article is all about the methodology I'm using to break through into what I want/dream about/desire in life and how I'm making the lack of what I ultimately want work for me.  Currently, I'm using them to purposefully find my life partner.    I am doing what I have already heard for many years to do:  go out and don't stay in my house all the time, work out incessantly, find hobbies and areas of interest to explore in a group setting, tell everyone around me that I'm are open to dating, etc. etc.

Different Strategies

While these approaches are good ideas, so far, they haven't worked.  So, I've created my own list of strategies that augments the obvious ones listed above. Maybe some of these off-the-wall strategies will work for you too, in whatever area you desire breakthrough.
  • Give generously into small ministries that can pray for you directly.  These ministries will personally email you back - no mass email approach - and they will know you by name.  Additionally, you can feel good about helping people who directly benefit from these small ministries.  I have found so much comfort and change in my own life when I've asked leaders of small ministries to pray for me.  They are true to their word - they will pray as promised and even send notes of encouragement.  I always pray for their needs in return in addition to supporting them financially.   An additional side benefit of this approach is that both parties are invested in the breakthrough, which makes the whole experience even more powerful.   A favorite of mine is the agricultural camp ministry of Maria Lopez called "Bridge to the Nations."
  • If you can afford it, consider using networks like AIN (Apostolic Intercessors Network) to pray for you.  I know it may sound weird, but there is something very comforting about knowing other Christians are doing battle for you on your behalf in a purposeful, regimented way.  I've used their services before when I was pushing through a really terrible time at work and their prayer cover really helped.
  • I'm sure you are already doing this, but if not, decree and declare in a positive way what you want - out loud.  I have spent many hours over the years, walking through my house, declaring and decreeing breakthrough in my love life.  I'm now currently saying "God - thank you for my single life.  While it's not what I ultimately want, I am thankful for the life I'm currently living".  It's beyond difficult to stay positive when you've been waiting for your mate for many years, so please don't underestimate the power of what you are saying and thinking when you decree and declare from a positive place.
  • Hire a business coach that also does life coaching.  I used my coach Ramesh for 6 sessions and received a lot of clarity around my old thinking patterns and areas I needed to consider changing.  I could be totally honest with her and within each one-hour session we did, she would give me practical feedback I could put into action each week.
Rejoice, Waiting for Your Breakthrough

Much like you, I'm waiting for breakthrough.  I am learning how to rejoice in the little wins while I keep praying in the major shifts.  As you wait for your own personal breakthrough, I wish you all that you dream about in life - may God richly bless you and may you be fulfilled.
