On January 2nd, I began releasing a word that ended with a quotation from Hebrews 12:26-29, which recalls and applies the revelation of Haggai chapter 2 about 'shaking.' More recently, I developed a model for understanding what becoming 'shake-proof' should look like in our lives. Remember the Word of the Lord: "if thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small" (Proverbs 24:10).

There is such a great need for the church to be firmly founded on the Lord and the unchangeable truth of His Word. To be able to stand in the middle of what now is and will be, we must stand on Christ crucified, resurrected and gloriously seated at the Father's right hand. We must take our strength and strategy from The One who calls us upward into the position He has granted us to see Him rule in the midst of what opposes Him.
And that is why we must become more stable, more firmly built on Christ than ever before. So that He will be freed by our stance in Him to move in and through us as He desires, further delivering people from the false powers of religious passivity, fleshly fatalism and agendas which the first Apostles would neither undertake nor endorse.
The Sufficiency of Christ
God wants a church that is truly demonstrating the sufficiency of Christ, not a 'god' who is a placative alternative to a cruel world. Jesus came to build a church that is offensive to Hell and has power over its minions. There Lord was not sent to develop a more humane society with a better psychological bill of health clothed by a philosophy void of anointing which destroys the yoke of bondage (Isaiah10:22). Jesus was not sent to give us a better life; the Father sent Jesus to give us back God's original design: zoe life that is unmistakably eternal in its source and dimension, as well as in its standing and staying power (John 10:10; Luke19:13).
Christ is the only One sufficient for you as a believer; Jesus is the only One with God's approval for ruling over His people, and we are each to be graced with a dimension of Him that renders us unshakeable in the midst of any and every thing that falters around us. All, so that we will go forward as His witnesses in the power that comes from being worshipers in spirit and in truth (Acts 1:8; John 4:23-24).
"Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10).
"And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, 'yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but the heaven.' This expression, 'yet once more,' denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire" (Hebrews 12:26-29).

Ask anyone who has been 'in the way' with the Lord during the last 30-40 years &- regardless of reports of 'this and that' happening 'here, there & everywhere' - they will almost certainly tell you, 'Things in the church are going in the wrong direction.' By & large, they are onto something that most either ignore, or refuse to see. Of course, to face this stark reality takes an honesty which betrays organizational priorities, baked-in patterns of promotional hype & the fleeting forecasts of coming circumstantial change. Moreover, to face this reality requires a humility very few are willing to even personally face, let alone publicly admit. Therefore, the question: how will we stop regressing, turn it around & then go forward?

Part 1 emphasized that we must not let go of this absolute reality: there is a quietness in God that He designed and desires for each of us. And just as importantly, that promise, and grace is also granted and to be seized for our surroundings. But since the prevailing winds of lifestyle in our world today are not conducive to this, many regard God's promise either skeptically, as laughable, or virtually impossible. But again, the absolute reality is there is a quietness in God that He has designed and desires for each of us - one that not only quiets the spirit but restores the soul and will even bring wholeness to the body. Believing that revelation of the Lord, the question most often becomes 'how do I get there from here?'

Everything in our society today reminds me of my 7th and 8th grade Middle School orchestra room. Just before attempting to quiet the various instruments - all of them blasting, clanging, strumming, or banging their noises as loud and long as possible- the director would then make several attempts by raising his voice. That said, today we must not let go of the absolute reality that there is a quietness in God that He designed and desires for each of us and - believe it or not - for our surroundings. Since the latter may seem not only unlikely but virtually impossible, it often causes the former - a personal quietness in God - to either be skeptically regarded or surrendered outright.
