THE POWER OF WORDS--GOD IS ADDING A NEW AUTHORITY UPON OUR WORDS
by Kathi Pelton

Words

WORDS! It just seems that God is focusing in on the words of our mouth. The other day, I caught myself being a bit "sharp" with my words to my oldest daughter and I thought, "Would I talk to someone that I minister to in that tone?" Of course not! But the Lord was quick to say, "Don't you minister to your daughter?" Yes, my children are my most influential ministry! I will have more impact on my four kids and my husband than anyone else that I have ever meet. Then I remembered the verse out of Proverbs 16:23-24 that says,

"The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips. Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones."

Where there was grace in the past to have some discrepancies between our personal lives and ministry lives...it seems that this is no longer the case! God desires to entrust us with authority in everything we do and say (in our day-to-day, moment-to-moment lives). This has required a great consecration of our personal lives during this season. Especially in those areas that have had compromise in them.

He is refining His Bride with great pressure, fire, and love. At this time, there seems to be a focus upon the words that come forth from our mouths. I believe that this has to do with the authority He is releasing to us. We will be declaring His words over nations, and they must be aligned with His words only. The words that come forth from our lips are a reflection of the meditations of our hearts. Psalm 19:14 reads,

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer."

The Alignment of Our Words

This issue about words is very personal to God. It concerns how we talk about ourselves, our spouses, our children, our churches, our cities, and our nations. Our words are being aligned with the words of Christ. Jesus only did and said what He saw His Father doing and saying...this is our example.

We must watch and listen before we speak because there is life and death in the tongue, and God is adding a new authority upon our words as His sons and daughters to speak life into nations, people, situations, etc.

It is a time to know His words more then ever before, and to align our words with His Word. This is not only His written Word, but the timely words that He speaks day-by-day and wants to release through us. God desires that healing comes forth from our mouths, not harm. Proverbs 12:18 says,

"There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing."

Mouth-to-Mouth

I keep hearing the words in my spirit, "mouth-to-mouth." It is like the Spirit is blowing life "mouth-to-mouth" into His Bride. This life-giving breath will have "words of life" upon it for us to speak His timely word into many situations. It is a greater place of intimacy and authority. "Mouth-to-mouth" not only refers to the procedure of resuscitation (giving back life), but also of a kiss.

We have stood face-to-face but it is getting even more personal in this season. It is like Jesus has bent down to kiss His Bride with life and intimacy. Intimacy unto further revelation of "who He is" and life for the purpose of "giving life" to a lost and dying world. We need to let the prayer of our heart be out of Psalm 19:14,

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer."

God seems to be inviting His people to receive the gift of authority that comes through our mouths and words. We must first accept the invitation and allow the Holy Spirit to breathe upon us with this purifying breath. It comes with great requirement of allowing the work of the Spirit to be upon our every word. It is about agreeing with Heaven, and speaking that which is pure, true, and lovely. If you do a word search on the word, "Word," you will be amazed at how important words are to the Lord and how powerful they are in the mouths of His people.

I encourage you to take the time to look through the Bible and find how God speaks about "words" and the power of the tongue. There are over 500 verses that include the word, "Word" in them. Pray some of these verses, so that your words and tongue will always be to declare truth and His righteousness. The "closet of our mouths" are being cleaned out. Open up, and let the Holy Spirit come in and cleanse your words, and fill your mouths with His words of authority and truth.

Deuteronomy 18:18-19--Words that release judgment
"'I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him. And it shall come about that whoever will not listen to My words which he shall speak in My name, I Myself will require it of him.'"

May your mouth be filled with life-giving words!
