Let's Not Be Rebellious to the Holy Spirit

by Joni Ames

I was very tired, and I laid down to go to sleep and heard, "Don't be rebellious (a rebel) to nudges of the Holy Spirit. Remember, rebellion is same type of sin as witchcraft."

I thought, "I know that." Then I thought, "Still...I better write that down." But I was very tired and thought, "I'll remember it."

I was getting sleepy. I started to drift off and thought, "I really should write that down." Then thought, "Lord help me remember it." Got more sleepy.

I finally realized that I was doing exactly what I was being told NOT to do! And that He was speaking it to me as a message for more than myself. I also realized that if I didn't write it down, I'd forget it. I quickly got up and reached for my phone and texted it to myself.

To rebel means:

1 (a) to oppose or disobey one in authority or control (b) to renounce and resist by force the authority of one's government
2 (a) to act in or show opposition or disobedience (b) to feel or exhibit anger or revulsion

There are many times when the Lord begins to speak to us about something, and we don't pay attention. Just like I was doing. And because of it, we miss out on the opportunity to hear from Him, or even to do something He wants us to be a part of. Also, at times, it can even cause us to suffer financial and other types of loss. - He may even want to reveal to us some sort of plan or even an invention.

The Lord was showing me that, many times, He even desires to release inventions to people, but they drift away from His nudgings, or don't write down what He speaks to them, and it therefore drifts on to one who WILL pay attention to Him!

It may seem like a small thing, but ignoring His small nudgings like that can cost us a lot. That little bit of rebellion, if not put "in check," can lead to greater amounts of it. - "A little bit of leaven leavens the whole lump."

The Lord desires to speak to and communicate with us, and to reveal His Heart and plans to us. If the God of the whole universe takes time out of HIS schedule to do so, who are we to rebel against Him?

If we are faithful in listening to Him in the "little" things - He will entrust us with more.

In this, I felt that He also said to "Quit second guessing yourself." - Which means telling yourself something like, "Was that my own thoughts or was that the Lord?" He gives us the ability to hear His voice and the more we listen and obey, the more we will hear.

Let's be faithful to "catch" the "fleeting" thoughts and ideas He sends our way, and not be rebellious. He is pouring out His Spirit in big measure in this time, and the "veil" between the natural and supernatural is becoming thinner. We can see and hear more from Him than ever before, if we will take the time and apply ourselves to do so. And what He speaks is worth acknowledging, keeping track of, and heeding. He desires to even reveal things to us that will cause us to prosper in this time, if we will only listen and pay attention to what He says.

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." (Prov. 3:5-6)

"(2) The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. (3) And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand." (Genesis 39:2-3)

"And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day." (Deut. 8:18)

"Therefore keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do." (Deut. 29:9)

"When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you." (John 16:13-15)

Holy Spirit, please forgive us for the times we have ignored your nudgings, and please speak to us clearly and often. We love to hear you, and will acknowledge and keep track of what you say. We love you!

In Jesus' name, Amen.
