You're
Worth It!
by John Garfield
Say
yes to your dream the Kingdom of God is built at a grass roots level one dream
at a time. We often use terminology like becoming entrepreneurial or
starting a business, but the real foundation is that each of us can
choose to walk toward the desires of our heart or leave them on the shelf.
Sometimes we even think it's somehow noble to lay down our desires for the Lord
and disappear into the background (it's really cowardice not humility). Real
maturity is realizing that I am God's treasure that was once hidden and has
been purchased by Jesus work on the cross. It's my job to work with the Holy
Spirit and release the treasure embedded in my dream and make the transition
from Servant to King. We are chosen, appointed and invited to do great things
and ask whatever and receive a miraculous
multiplication when we work toward our dream. It all works because your dream
is God's dream too. Think about it!
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man
found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and
bought that field. Matt 13:44 NIV
I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his
master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I
learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I
chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. Then
the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is my command: Love
each other. John 15:15-17 NIV
Getting Started
Most
of us have jobs working for other people in what is largely someone else's
dream. That's not a bad thing because we learn a lot about ourselves in the
course of serving another man's vision. There are still ways to carve out a
piece of that vision for your own and work on it. Employers love that
characteristic it's called initiative and it spawns creativity. It separates
you from the servant/slave mentality. A job may be your day of small
beginnings, but that's where we learn to multiply our work and create wealth.
Faithful in a few things makes you're a candidate to be in charge of many
things. It's called promotion and it comes from God.
"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted
with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest
with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who
will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with
someone else's property, who will give you property of your own? Luke
16:10-12 NIV
"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You
have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Matt 25:21
NIV
Invest in yourself
Coaches
and mentors can help us move toward our dream. People with a poverty mentality
don't believe they are worth the investment. They drift with little progress on
their dream. God interrupts that thought process with something I believe the
Holy Spirit is already saying to you:
"You
are worth the price I paid to redeem you. Your dream is part of my plan to
build the Kingdom. Reach for it! We can do this."
It's
one thing to believe that "I'm important in God's eyes and have a role in
the Kingdom." It's another level to take action on that belief. Your very
first investment needs to be in getting help from someone who can pull you into
your dream. Will it cost money? I hope so
I hope there is some level of
sacrifice in time and money because you are important and your dream has a
priority. Destiny has a price! Your personal goals need to include some
expression of making progress on your dream. You don't have to quit your day
job and trash your finances, just start taking some steps and see where they
lead. It's fun.
