Spirit vs. Flesh by Benedikt Schwabe

By Benedikt Schwabe

By this topic I mean the battle between our spirit and our egocentric lifestyle which is an abomination against God.

The flesh is the human defiled and corrupted mind and lifestyle which displeases our Lord and cannot please anyhow.  The spirit is well just our spirit. Everyone has a spirit and it is not the Holy Spirit which I mean here but the inner man, the spirit of us.

For example in 1 Thess 5:23 Paul talks of the spirit of us.  The spirit is dead since the fall of Adam and Eve and it needs to be touched by the Holy Spirit to be reawakened. If we get this teaching our life will be changed.  This was the introduction.

Now there are my important revelations on this topic:

Let us look at some scriptures:

The most important scriptures about this topic are in Romans 7 and 8 and in Galatians, almost the whole letter.

The Word Separates Flesh and Spirit here.

Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

The flesh is unable to please God and will never be able but yet so many christians try to live a God pleasing life in the flesh. That will never work!

For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  Romans 8:6

And also it brings death because you live in the first Adam nature which is sin and again sin. It cannot obey the Lord but the spirit can. The spirit has not set us free from the "spirit" of the law.  If we walk in the spirit we can fulfill the spirit of the law. Galatians 5:16 "I say then: Walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh."

The flesh is weak. If we walk in the flesh then we live under condemnation.

Romans 4:4 "Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt."

Romans 4:15 "Because the law brings about wrath."

Romans 8:1 "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not WALK ACCORDING TO THE FLESH but according to the spirit."

No Condemnation in Christ

We see that there is only condemnation under the law and in the flesh. There is no condemnation for those who walk in the spirit and who are in Christ. But if you walk in the flesh you will feel condemnation! Not only me but many others are witnesses of this truth.

The one who lives in the spirit does not sin! We have the mind of Christ and there is no place for the enemy to into us. He wants to get us into the flesh again but we shall not let him do this!

You fulfill the law by living in the spirit! The fruits of the spirit are "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law."

"And those who are Christ´s have  crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." Galatians 5:22-24

If we have not crucified ourselves really then we will not live in Christ and will feel the condemnation on us and will try and try to overcome the flesh and feel so miserable.

The Lord put the law in our hearts and minds. Everyone has morale attitudes. We try to live after these attitudes but often are not able. The law shall show us that we are condemned in the flesh. It shall show us the sin in us and the inability to live a godly life. Without the law there would be no transgression! Romans 4:15b

The act of crucifying ourselves is just to realize that we need Him to fulfill the law of Christ and to be born again by water and spirit. It is the baptism into the Godheads. "Baptize them in the name of the FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT."

This will reactivate our spirit which was dead until this moment of born again experience.  The Holy Spirit will work in us the ability to walk in the spirit and in the mind of Christ.

Let us live in the spirit and in the fruit of the spirit and fulfill in this the law and be free from the sin consciousness and the flesh. Let the devil find nothing is us. Let there be no opportunity for him to get us back into the flesh.

Father I pray that everyone who reads this will get a revelation about this important truth and thank you that we are capable to walk in the spirit and not to live in the body of sin.
