Psalm 105:16-17 Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread. He sent a man before them , even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:

God calls for a famine, means that famine is part of God's plan. There is so much on TV that sometimes the temptation is to turn off the TV, shut our eyes for all the financial crisis that we see around us. But the fact is the crisis is hitting all countries, and even churches and ministries like never before. For many of us, we are alarmed by the increasing appeals for money by ministries.

But when I prayed about it, the Lord took me to Psalm 105. He showed me that He Himself called for the famine. So we must see the reasons for the famine called for.

1.    The famine was called to separate a man: Joseph was prepared for speaking into the famine, even long before the famine came...wisdom and revelation gave important strategies for combating the effects of famine. This man would be used to bring to a ungodly people God's provision. How much we need Josephs today to unblock the famine today, and release provision.

2.    The famine was called to separate a people: Abraham was spoken to about Joseph's generation and how they would come out of a foreign land. God was about to separate a family, to become a nation through the famine. God defines His People through famine, by bringing prosperity. This prosperity advances God's Kingdom and brings His Glory to abide with His Covenant people.

3.    The famine was called to prosper and establish God's people: Israel became a nation, and that nation was given Canaan to be their land...so as much as they prospered in very difficult times, so in these times, God's people will understand covenant better and begin to see this same covenant manifest in their lives, families and businesses.

The Lord wants to speak through this to our own times. The Lord is raising up a Joseph generation, not seekers after revelation but wisdom. God will use this generation, who have been a)sent b) tried c) made to be those who will renew, innovate in the area of economics God's way. It is through this generation that the Church will fulfill its ministry and commission through a new way of financing.

So if you have been prepared, tried, God will lift you to affect your community, your church to a new flow of new provision coming from the Lord.
