Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God said, 'You shall not eat of any tree of the garden'?" The Book of Genesis is the book of beginnings. We see God creating the heavens and the earth, then forming man from the dirt of the earth placing him in the Garden of Eden. Later God searches for a "helper" that is suitable for him. After Adam had the opportunity of seeing all the options, God places Adam in a deep sleep taking a rib from him and forming Eve from the rib.

Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God said, 'You shall not eat of any tree of the garden'?"
The Book of Genesis is the book of beginnings. Before Eve had come into the picture, God had given Adam the command not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that was in the midst of the garden. We see this earlier in this passage:
Genesis 2:15-18 The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die…" Then the Lord God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helper suitable for him."
The serpent knows that Eve has received second hand information from Adam. In his craftiness he uses this as an opportunity to deceive her through twisting what God had said, even questioning what God had said to Adam because Eve was never there to be in the actual conversation.
Questioning What God Says
Temptation is normal for those who follow God. The way the enemy likes to do this is by bringing what God has said into question. It is always an attack on faith, believing and trusting God. The enemy wants to bring you into a place of doubt and unbelief. He likes to twist what God has said as well. God forbade Adam from eating of the "one" tree of the knowledge of good and evil, not from "any tree" in the garden. He tries to make God look bad and very restricting when in fact God is just the opposite.
All the while the enemy tries to get people to come into his courts and commune with him. This is what he does with Eve by questioning God he is able to pull her into a conversation she should have simply ignored and left. She should not have even been near the serpent. Many questions could be asked about where was Adam, why was Eve alone and vulnerable in the first place. But the point to bring home from this is that we don't engage in conversation with the devil or commune with thoughts that question God's goodness, love, truth and faithfulness.
We must learn to recognize what temptation looks like and that the enemy wants to draw people into a conversation with him. When those thoughts come you then recognize the source. More importantly realize that God is calling you into His courts to have communion with Him, to choose the better part of intimacy in His Presence! This is why our communication is no small thing. God wants that communication and time with you. It means everything to Him. It is there that we experience the reality of His goodness where we can grow from glory to glory and from faith to faith.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be put out. And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning and lay the burnt offering in order on it; and he shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings. A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out. Leviticus 6:12-13 Recently I had a dream encounter where the Lord spoke to me that there is a greater need for more "fire on the altar." In this it was apparent that there was a need for prayer to permeate and infiltrate the atmosphere of the region. I could literally sense that the atmosphere was not what it needed to be - more prayer was needed.

God is blowing a fresh wind right now! His Spirit is being poured out as a new wave of His glory is stirring hunger, drawing people into living encounters with Him. Awake, O north wind, And come, O south! Blow upon my garden, that its spices may flow out. Let my beloved come to his garden. And eat its pleasant fruits. The Beloved Song of Songs 4:16 The Lord is invading and interrupting the flow of the spirit of this world, breaking in as He has plans for these upcoming generations. He has a longing to draw all men to Him. What we are seeing right now, more and more, are people being caught up in the simplicity of worship in the Spirit.
