Today the Lord brought me back to a dream that I had in 1984 just a few days before I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. In this dream my mother came up to me and said: The reason why you dream of water so often is because you want to go back into my womb and be born again. I didn’t understand what that dream meant at the time, but a few weeks later I got filled with the Holy Spirit and began to understand spiritual things. I learned how to hear Jesus’ voice through reading His Word. I found that there are countless ways that He speaks. Some of the ways are through dreams, visions, enigmas, metaphors, impressions and parables.
In the book of John chapter three, there was a man named Nicodemus who was a Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin. This ancient Jewish sect was known to have strict observance of the traditional law of the Torah. He went to Jesus at night because he was fearful of being seen by the religious rulers. He respectfully called Jesus rabbi saying: “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these miracles that you do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered him, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.
The word “see” is eidō meaning not only to perceive with the eyes but to discern and perceive by the senses. The word Kingdom is basileia. It’s not speaking of a natural kingdom but a royal power, kingship, dominion, rule. At first Nicodemus didn’t understand the concept of being born again, but then I believe he received a revelation after dialoging with Jesus. There was another time he tried to defend Jesus when the religious rulers came against him (John 7:50). He was also one of the men who took Jesus down off the cross when He died. He brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes for His burial. (John 19:39)
Jesus told Nicodemus an analogy about being born of water and the Spirit. Water meaning being born of a natural birth and Spirit meaning that we needed to be born again spiritually. This is what the Holy Spirit is showing me. When you are born, you enter into reality for the first time. You receive your natural eyesight, your hearing and all your senses become alive. When you are born again it’s the same in the Spirit realm. You become empowered by God, and your mind becomes renewed. You will begin to discern the move of the Holy Spirit, and you will begin to understand the astonishing love of Jesus in all its dimensions.
Jesus went on to say: “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” The Lord is telling me that some of you are going to renew your vows with Jesus. Some may even be saved for ten years or twenty years but you have not yet experienced this spiritual awakening. You don’t realize the honor and privilege to be born again and filled with the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now dwells in you will give life to your mortal bodies by the Spirit that dwells in you.
Some of you are about to have your spiritual eyes and ears opened in a new way. It has been your desire to hear from the Lord and He is about to release understanding to those who will ask, and He will empower you to discover who He really is. The eyes of your heart will be enlightened. For some you are going to understand His “sign language” to be able to discern what His will is for you. You are about to understand the love that transcends all understanding as you submit your lives to Him and seek first His Kingdom, all these things will be added to you.
John 1:12-13 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
Ephesians 1:17-20 I pray that the Father of glory, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would impart to you the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelation to know him through your deepening intimacy with him. I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling —that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us, his holy ones!
I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you! This is the mighty power that was released when God raised Christ from the dead and exalted him to the place of highest honor and supreme authority in the heavenly realm!
