"The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters." (Psalms 29:3)
"...the God of glory THUNDERETH: the LORD is upon many waters." (Psalm 29:3) In Biblical symbolism, glory speaks of Father's character and nature, and thunder speaks of judgment. How befitting that the God of CHARACTER would bring forth judgment upon that which is NOT of His nature. However, the prevailing thought when it applies to judgment is that of punishment or retribution. This is clearly NOT New Covenant understanding, for 2 Corinthians 5:21 is quite plain as it states, "For He hath made Him to BE SIN FOR US, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him." The New Covenant emphasis of judgment is not punishment or retribution, rather the emphasis is that of SEPARATION. Jesus came into the world as a Separator!"Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the EARTH..." (Matthew 10:34 Amplified Bible) As we've discussed before, earth is symbolic of carnality. Jesus definitely did not come to bring peace to our carnality! "I have not come to bring peace, but a SWORD.For I have come to PART ASUNDER..." (Matthew 10:34-35 Amplified Bible) He came to bring a Sword to our carnality! This sounds like what we just read in Genesis 1:4, "...and God divided the light from the darkness."
We would do well to heed Peter's words as he pens, "And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away... and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:" (1Peter 5:4-6) The chief Shepherd, Christ, desires to appear within a people for His glory, and what are we to do with our crown of glory that fadeth not away? "The four and twenty elders FALL DOWN before Him that sat on the throne, and worship Him that liveth for ever and ever, and CAST their CROWNS before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created." (Revelation 4:10-11)
I can hear the "thunder" approaching rapidly... may we be prepared by laying down the "loftiness" of our spirituality.
How many pastors have prayed for "revival" with the subtle motivation of making a name? Most every church that I know of has had a prophecy that "revival" would break out in their church, and then spread from there all over the world, and that people would flock to the "place where it all started." Can't we see the subtle pride in all that? The truth really IS that Father indeed desires that "revival" (for lack of a better term) would break out in EVERY church, and spread all over the world, and nobody would really care WHERE it started! Let us make sure that we are on the side of humility as "the voice of the LORD DIVIDETH the flames of fire."
"The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh." (Psalm 29:8) The the wilderness of Kadesh, or Kadesh-Barnea means "desert of a fugitive." A fugitive is one who was once apprehended, but now has escaped and is on the loose. "...I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:12) I dare say that there are many who were at one time totally apprehended of Christ, but now due to offense in Church, circumstances, selfish desires, self promotion, an independent spirit, etc. are wandering "on the loose" so to speak. This place of being a spiritual fugitive is a wilderness of wandering where the focus is on getting our needs met. How many Christians do you know that wander from place to place because "We were not getting our needs met at the last Church?" I believe that the Voice of the Lord is shaking the wilderness of Kadesh!
It is also important to note that from Kadesh-Barnea Moses sent out twelve spies to spy the land. We know that these spies brought back an evil report, Joshua and Caleb were the only ones who brought a good report that agreed with what God had already said. Influenced by the evil report, the people abandoned all hope of entering into the Promised Land and they remained a considerable time at Kadesh-Barnea. Because of their unbelief, they were consigned to wander in the wilderness. The wilderness of Kadesh also speaks of that mentality of being influenced more by circumstances than by what God has already said. It is the place of UNBELIEF. "So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief." (Hebrews 3:19) Unbelief will keep you from your promise. The Amplified Bible states it clearly, "So we see that they were not able to enter [into His rest], because of their unwillingness to adhere to and trust in and rely on God [unbelief had SHUT THEM OUT]." (Hebrews 3:19 Amplified Bible)The Voice of the Lord is shaking the wilderness of Kadesh to remove our unbelief!
"The voice of the Lord makes the hinds bring forth their young, and His voice strips bare the forests, while in His temple everyone is saying, Glory!"(Psalm 29:9 Amplified Bible) The Voice of the Lord is procreative. His desire is to continually birth a New Thing in the earth, "Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?." (Isaiah 43:19) Yes, we are to live with a sense of continual EXPECTANCY, however expectancy must produce a spiritual birthing. An expectant woman that never gives birth will eventually die."Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God." (Isaiah 66:9) The Voice of the Lord is calling forth the birthing of a Holy Thing in this day!
"His Voice strips bare the forests..." In Biblical symbolism, forests/ wood speaks of people. May His Voice strip us bare of our religious "cover up" that we may be naked and not ashamed before Him. May all that is not of the nature and character of Christ be stripped away from us. The result of this stripping away is that, "In His temple everyone is saying, Glory!" WE are His Temple, and His Temple was designed to bear His Glory, which is His nature and character! May our corporate declaration be thus;"And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is FULL of His glory." (Isaiah 6:3)
Back to where we started at the first of this writing, at the evening of our recent "Presence Encounter", after He began to open up Psalm 29 to me, I believe He went on to say this: "I am bringing a culmination, a consummation of all that I have purposed from everlasting. All of history as you know it has been building for this culmination. All creation has been groaning in anticipation. THIS is MY appointed time! This is MY HOUR! This is YOUR HOUR! Go forth! Go forth! Go forth!"
