domestically and abroad as the man with the "velvet voice”. Edsel Manuel
Davis,
Jr. is considered to be one of gospel music’s upcoming giants and
premier
superstars of the new millennium. A native of Birmingham, Alabama,
Edsel’s
smooth voice and lofty tenor range has been compared to the likes of
Daryl
Coley, Glenn Jones, & Victor Trent Cook.
Edsel is a graduate of Morehouse College and Union Theological Seminary of New York, NY. While as a student at Morehouse, Edsel was a member and of the premier soloists in the world-renown Morehouse College Men’s Glee Club & Quartet. Edsel has shared the stage with many performers such as jazz pianist Billy Taylor, Robert Shaw of the Atlanta Symphony, Noel Pointer, Babbie Mason, Michael & Regina Winans, Thomas Whitfield, and Eli Wilson, Jr., to name a few. He also was selected as a special musical guest to sing for the 2004 freedom award recipient’s, Bono and Congressman John Lewis.
Edsel has
garnered great
attention as a vocalist abroad. He has performed frequently in Italy
& England,
appearing as a musical guest for the Bologna Jazz Festival, Castle
Brando
International Gospel Music Seminar, San Stefano Musical Festival, the
13-city
Buono Natale Italian Christmas Tour with Cheryl Porter, In The Spirit,
& Amii
Stewart. He was honored to sing for the wedding of Luciano Pavarotti
& was
selected as a special musical guest for the Queen’s Jubilee Gospel
Concert in
honor of the 50-year reign of Queen Elizabeth.
As a recording artist, Edsel’s debut album release on Vision Records & Entertainment "Give It To Me”, is currently receiving airplay in over 50 radio markets across the United States. He has also received critical acclaim as the featured soloist on Rev. Timothy Wright & the Westchester Interdenominational Fellowship Choir’s title track, "I Can Make It.”
Edsel is a third-generation ordained minister. He is an apostle and prophet of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Currently, he serves as the Senior Pastor of Emmanuel Temple of Praise in Birmingham, Alabama
