Safe Worlds IPTV On-Track to be a Major Kingdom Resource

IRVINE, CA (ANS) -- I've been working on Safe Worlds now since 1983. In 1989, I first met the late Dr. Bright, the founder of Campus Crusade, at Arrowhead Springs, and he told me about the Great Commission; and said: "When you build that system, you must use it to complete the Great Commission". I have been inspired to build Safe Worlds for this purpose, ever since. God bless and keep you, Bill Bright.

Between 1993 and 1995 I looked at using Safe Worlds to help rebuild Russia after the collapse of the USSR. I thought it could be a digital "Marshall Plan", for Russia. In 1995, I went back to Dr. Bright and asked him for help with the Russian project. He said to me: "Alan, if God's hand is in your work, it will happen." This wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear from him, but this is all he would tell me.

At that time, I was impatient to finish the job, but the Holy Spirit obviously had more to do with me; and I had no option but to be patient. And I was patient, and in 1999, I went on to see Universal Logic, which probably would not have happened, had I gotten caught up with the Russian program.

Safe Worlds IPTV will be Ready - When we need it

It reminds me of a little story that I once heard, that goes like this:

Once upon a time there was a fine church that was built on strong foundations. Its walls and windows were elaborately attired. Its roof, that protected all who came to worship, from the elements, was strengthened with great Oak beams - straight and strong. As time passed, the Oak beams in the roof aged and decayed; and the time came when they had to be replaced. A worldly expert was brought in; and he said it would be impossible to find replacement Oak beams. He therefore recommended replacing the magnificent old beams with steel girders. But the people were reluctant. They did not want to lose the look and feel of their wonderful old church.

And so they asked for time to consider the expert's recommendation. The expert went off to explore the surrounding countryside. And as he rounded a turn in the winding country road, he saw before him a magnificent stand of giant oak; exactly as were needed to repair the church. He quickly stopped and rushed in to talk with the farmer on whose property the giant trees stood. "I would like to buy your Oak trees," he said. "They're not for sale," the farmer said. "Why not," the expert persisted; "I will pay a very handsome price." "They are not mine to sell," the farmer said. "Whose are they?" the man asked. "They belong to God," the farmer said. "What do you mean?" the man retorted. "Well," the farmer said, "my great, great grandfather built the church down that winding road that you have just travelled, and when he did, God told him to plant these trees so that they would be ready when needed to repair the roof.

To me, building Safe Worlds is like this. The seed has been planted; and in its time, it will happen and its value will be appreciated.

The Safe Worlds Vision

Clayton Metcalfe at work

If you haven't heard the Safe Worlds story before, Safe Worlds IPTV is a global Internet television (IPTV) platform and e-business system that my wife Mary, and I, and our son Clayton are building with a team of dedicated IT professionals. We started 25 years ago. Its purpose is to serve the kingdom and restore the World Economy, which I have known for all this time, must eventually go digital; and move into cyberspace. It helps me to stay the distance, if I think of it like building "Noah's Ark". As I see the flood of electronic information inundating the world; and the increasing confusion of all the computer languages that are involved, I remember Biblical Babylon, it is clear to me that the end of the world, as we know it, is nigh.

Dr. Ron Jenson with Alan Metcalfe

The Safe Worlds IPTV platform and system, I believe, is like Noah's Ark. It is based on a major breakthrough discovery in computer science that I made late in 1999, on the eve of the year 2000, that today we call Universal Logic. I would like to call it a revelation, rather than a discovery, because, as unbelievable as it may be, for some, the truth is that I got it from the Bible, as a result of 10 years of prayer and research in to the numbers and mathematics of Scripture. Listening to a well-known American evangelist on the radio in 1988 inspired me to pray for a solution to the problems of the world. This is what led me to Bill Bright in 1989. Dr. Ron Jenson, a longtime friend and advisor used to be one of Bill's lieutenants; and it was Ron who took me to meet the great man, when he knew what I was working on.

The big breakthrough is that Universal Logic is the key to designing a fully integrated, fully interoperable Internet platform and system that solves all of the problems and limitations of trying to do e-business on the World Wide Web. In computer science, it's the "Holy Grail". Yes, believe it or not, God knew that one day we would be communicating electronically, using logic (Logos is the personification of logic) and that we would need a God-given system; and this is what the revelation of Universal Logic has given us. In this sense, God is like the man who planted the Oak Trees knowing that one day they would be needed.

The Need and the Difference

Many people, of course, believe it's all happening anyway; that they are in command; that Logos has nothing to do with modern communications; and that a system like Safe Worlds is not necessary. "I just don't know what Alan's on about;" I hear even prominent church leaders say, over and over again. We've got a "you beaut" Website, why do we need Safe Worlds? Because you cannot network Websites into marketplaces; and without e-marketplaces there is no way to move the World Economy into cyberspace; there is no way to do large scale e-business. Why do we need to do that? Because if free enterprise business dies, so too does the church, as we have known it for the past 200 years.

Mary and Alan Metcalfe

The reality is that current World system is broken; it can no longer deliver the business and the jobs that are needed to sustain growth and stability in the world. As a result, the prominently Christian middle class is under dire threat. The poor all over the world, who need our help, are in danger of being abandoned.

As Franklin Graham said recently, we have to use the Internet. He is right, because, everywhere we look, the World Economy is in trouble. Freedom and free enterprise everywhere are under threat. Christianity is being attacked from every side; and the good life we knew so briefly in the second half of the 20th Century is disappearing before our eyes. Babylon is falling! Come out of her my friends.

"Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls; for in one hour so great riches is come to naught. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, and cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city! And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness; for in one hour is she made desolate." (Revelation 18: 16-19)

Building the End Times Ark

Watch and listen to Glenn Beck on Fox News and you will see and hear the script of Babylon's demise being laid out chapter and verse. Beck has been doing this for the past two years. Still, where is the solution? Where is the digital solution that we need in this Digital Age? It is not the World Wide Web that is as unruly and as impossible to organize as the Wild-Wild-West.

Yes, we must strengthen ourselves, as individuals, as Beck says. But what good will that do us if the World Economy collapses? We can buy gold, and hoard it by the truckload: and we can build bigger and bigger barns to store our food and supplies for the hard times to come: but what good will that do us if the World Economy collapses? It will soon be all gone. Remember how fat and well fed the Jews were in Europe before the Nazis loaded them onto those trains; and railed them off to their death. Check out the before and after photos. And never forget that they took the gold out of their teeth before they gassed them.

The Challenges

As worrying as these signs are, it has not been an easy task to build this "End Times Ark", as one might image. The 10 years that I spent finding Universal Logic, now seems like a walk in the park, compared with now building the system and getting it to market. At every turn it seems that "the dragon is standing there, waiting to devour the child as soon as it is born." (Revelation 12: 4)

The last two years have been particularly difficult. The collapse of the global economy has made raising the necessary capital we need, very difficult. Christians everywhere sense an impending disaster, but they seem paralyzed by their fear. As one man told me, "Alan, this is Armageddon. I would like to help, but I must get my finances in order, I must save my money for when the disaster strikes".

And this is where I differ with Glenn Beck, because I do not believe that these are times when we should be saving our money; but believing; and investing our money in the God-given world to come.

Still, despite these challenges, God has been amazingly gracious with us; and we survive against the odds. As a result, I have come to realize and believe without doubt that "God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you will always have enough in all things, so that you may abound to every good work." (2 Corinthians 9: 8) "God is faithful, He will not suffer you to be tempted above what you are able; but will with the challenge also make a way to escape, that you will be able to bear it." (1 Corinthians 10: 13) And hopefully, when Safe Worlds IPTV is a reality; before He calls me home, the Lord will give me the time to write the book of our experiences. If he does, I believe you will be amazed at what we have been able to achieve against such incredible odds. How, when all seems to have been lost, so many times, God somehow pulled us through. Many, many people, of course, have helped us. Many, many more have prayed for us. I am also bles sed with a wonderful and giving wife and son. Both are extremely gifted; and committed to our cause.

Our Current Status

The good news is that God has always heard our prayers; and He has never abandoned us. We have now finished building the basic Safe Worlds IPTV system. The Alpha and Beta testing are finished; and we are now on track to launch this year. We are currently putting the finishing touches on our go-to-market look and feel, and the plan that we hope to start putting into action by mid-year. Hopefully then, by the end of this year, the World will know about Safe Worlds IPTV. Pray without ceasing for our success, my friends.
