Kingdom Scribes by Lanny Swaim

"Every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things that are new and fresh and things that are old and familiar." Jesus in Matthew 13:52 AMP A few years ago Jesus appeared to me in a night vision and told me that I am an apostle.  Later it was prophesied to me by someone whose prophetic gift I greatly respect, that I am also a father to the Body of Christ.  While I didn't discount this prophetic word given to me, I couldn't fully embrace it at the time.

"Every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things that are new and fresh and things that are old and familiar." Jesus in Matthew 13:52 AMP

A few years ago Jesus appeared to me in a night vision and told me that I am an apostle.  Later it was prophesied to me by someone whose prophetic gift I greatly respect, that I am also a father to the Body of Christ.  While I didn't discount this prophetic word given to me, I couldn't fully embrace it at the time.

While recently reading the above scripture, I was reminded of the word I had received about being a father.  Then I heard the Lord say this:

"I am raising up father figures who are receiving new and fresh revelation concerning the Kingdom.  I am giving these father figures the scribe anointing, to write that which they are seeing and gaining an understanding of.  At first they will not be well received except by a remnant that I have prepared to hear them.  They will show the contrast between that which is new and fresh and that which is old and familiar."

A Personal Testimony

Some time ago I began seeing things in Scripture I had never seen before.  Some of what I was seeing brought clarity to what I considered to be truth.  But some of it contradicted what I thought to be truth.  My initial reaction to this new revelation I was getting was to say to the Lord, "I can't teach this. I've never heard anyone else teach this."

All that changed one evening when I met someone who had written books about much that I was seeing and more.  Since that time I have crossed paths with and read the writings of other scribes that have a new and fresh view of what it is to live and operate in the Kingdom of Heaven/God.  And much of what they write contrasts the old and familiar, which often was only a partial revelation of truth and sometimes contained no truth at all.

And much that I am seeing has not only been confirmed by others teaching similar and often the same revelation I am receiving, it has been confirmed by the way in which the Lord has ordered my life, causing my experience to line up with revealed knowledge.

The Gospel of the Kingdom

Jesus came teaching and proclaiming (preaching) the Gospel of the Kingdom.  When I began to see the contrast between the Gospel of the Kingdom and the gospel I have been taught and believed most of my life, I realized we have bought into a false gospel.

Jesus didn't teach the gospel of personal salvation, or the gospel of going to heaven when we die.  And He certainly didn't teach the name it and claim it faith gospel or the prosperity gospel.  Those are very self-centered gospels, and self has no place in the Kingdom of God.  In fact, self is the enemy of the Kingdom.  And self cannot be rehabilitated or fixed.  Self has to die.  Even the apostle Paul said, "I die daily." (see 1 Corinthians 15:31)

While going to Heaven when we leave the Earth is certainly something to look forward to, that should not be our primary focus.  When Jesus told Nicodemus the purpose for being born again (born from above), He didn't even mention Heaven.  He said the reason for being born again is to see the Kingdom (see John 3:3).  And the Gospel of the Kingdom is definitely not about us being blessed to have a better life or to get more stuff.  Rather, it is about being carries of the blessing that will ultimately bring Heaven to Earth.  Did you get that?  The Gospel of the Kingdom is not about going to Heaven, it is about a convergence of Heaven and Earth, which is what Jesus taught us to pray:

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10

An Admonition

As I was walking my dog and praying in the Spirit a few years ago, I heard the Lord say, "Put all the cards on the table."

It was only the second time I had ever heard Him speak to me in a cliché.  The first time was a very important and pivotal word that changed the course of my life, so I reasoned that this word must be of great importance as well.

I believe this word is also for all scribes that are disciples of the Kingdom of God.  We are receiving revelation that must be taught, because of the seriousness of the time in which we live.  The Church and the world are in a time of great transition, accompanied by great turbulence. I believe that as we move into this new day (millennium) (see 2 Peter 3:8) on the timeline of history, we are transitioning from the Church Age into the Kingdom Age.  Jesus, speaking of the Kingdom, said the violent take it by force (see Matthew 11:12).  Of course, this isn't about violence in the physical realm but rather in the spiritual realm.  We must contend in the spirit for the Kingdom.

As a good father gives advice and direction to his household, we must guide the Body of Christ, and especially the remnant who have eyes to see and ears to hear, into this time of transition, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom (a convergence of Heaven and Earth), which will ultimately change the world.

Surely we were born for such a time as this.
