Speak Life by Shauna Carrington

By Shauna Carrington
Words are powerful! We must be aware of the impact the words we speak over ourselves and others. Our words bring life or death into situations and souls. Let's be vigilant about blessing and not cursing because according to the Word, we will reap what we sow and we will eat the words of our mouth. I don't know about you, but I don't want to eat words of hatred, bitterness, poverty, sickness or any other word that does not bring or produce blessings and life!

We don't want to speak harmful words that can wound not only our soul (mind, will & emotions) but the souls of other people. Proverbs 18:20-21 AMP (paraphrasing) A man's moral self shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; death and life are in the power of the tongue, they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it (death or life.)

I love Proverbs 10:11 in the MSG translation, "The mouth of a good person is a deep, life-giving well, but the mouth of the wicked is a dark cave of abuse."

On Purpose

I pray that we would really come to realize that we have the power according the Word to produce life or death, not only within ourselves, but in the lives of others... Yes, even our enemies. I have been guilty of not blessing my enemies, but either thinking or speaking ugly things, and in my opinion, I believe that we do this out of hurt. Those that hurt are hurt themselves, therefore, we react or respond in an unhealthy way. My heart so desires and is striving to become more of a woman who speaks words of life and purpose which will produce hope and faith into everyone I come into contact with, using my speech to impact people, being a deep, life-giving well, even to myself.

Have a day filled with speaking blessings everywhere you go!

Love,
