One particular day many years ago I went into prayer a desperate young man, fully aware that it was possible to hear God's voice. I prayed for about an hour but nothing happened. I didn't feel a single goose bump; in fact I felt nothing at all. It felt as if the heavens were brass and God was ignoring me. I was young and didn't fully realize that I was not to run after feelings but exercise faith even when I felt nothing in the secret place.
I prayed for another hour, and still nothing happened. I prayed constantly for a total of three hours and still nothing happened. After about three and a half hours, I couldn't help thinking that I should just give up - that God wasn't going to answer me, but something deep inside me compelled me to stay in His presence. I knew I had to press in, with the same tenacity as Jacob when he wrestled with that angel. After about four hours on my knees in that little church, God's presence finally entered the room, and I began to weep uncontrollably. Then God spoke to me. It wasn't in a booming voice that others could hear, but it might as well have been, because it was so loud in my spirit that there was no question that it was God's voice and not Satan or my own imagination. I will never forget what He said, "Steve, I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I am the God of Steve Porter too."
God Really Does Know You
I wept for over an hour as I lingered in His presence, because I was so struck by the fact that God actually knew my name. I was special to Him. Nobody outside of my small community may have known my name, but the Creator of heaven and earth did. After all the pain of humiliation and rejection I had endured all those years, God knew me by name.
No matter how worthless and unworthy you may feel, God knows your name, too; He has not forgotten you. There may be billions of others on the planet, but God knows you as an individual, and you are special to Him. No matter what struggle you're in the midst of today, He knows your name and where you live.

When John's grandfather passed away, he left him with a heavy burden and a great gift: A bag of valuable gold coins and a sealed envelope with strict instructions not to open it until he was an old man himself. He carefully counted out the seventy gold coins, one meant to spend each year of his life. Vowing to spend them wisely as his grandfather had instructed, he felt confident in his financial strategy. Some years were easier than others, but John was determined to follow his grandfather's wishes.

"Yet at the scent of water it will bud and put forth shoots like a plant." Job 14:9 One morning my sweet wife brought a pot of flowers to my attention, a pot we had forgotten for a few days. Not on purpose, just overlooked because it was in an out-of-the-way place. When we discovered the dead flowers, we almost gave up and threw them away. For some reason, I just could not give up on them. Though they were dead and ugly with no life left in them, I saw them as they could be - beautiful. I moved the container into the sun for better warmth and watered them daily, speaking uplifting words of life over them. These flowers belonged to me; I would not quit on them or give up - not yet.

The Revelation of Ezekiel's wheel within a wheel is a divine mystery to the body of Christ. There have been a number of commentators over the years that have given their best interpretations of this divine revelation, but the wheel has remained a mystery in the minds and hearts of most Christians. This is much like lifting a diamond into your line of sight, where you will see the glistening rays of light flash from many different angles. Each angle is unique, bringing new and more beautiful flashes of light, yet it is still one single entity just like the revelation of the wheel. Each ray of greater revelation makes up the wheel within the wheel. I humbly shine my bit of light on this powerful revelation.
