After several years of drought, God declares to Elijah that He is bringing relief. He is sending rain.
Immediately Elijah faces resistance and battles the prophets of Baal. Overcoming the spiritual warfare, he prevails, but still not a cloud in the sky.
Whatever God reveals, whether a promise, a truth or a need, it is His invitation for our involvement. It requires our response. It becomes our responsibility. The revelation that God shared was His invitation for Elijah to participate in what God was about to do.
So, he prays. He prays intensely with his head between his knees. Each time he sends the servant to watch for God’s move. But nothing is confirming the revelation he received. The evidence is in contradiction to the truth God had shown Elijah.
Elijah isn’t dismayed and persists in his commitment. Finally, after the seventh time a new report but even it doesn’t seem inspiring. The servant basically says “there is a tiny, insignificant cloud. Surely that can’t be it.”
But Elijah saw it differently. His faith saw it as the beginning of God’s power being released, to fulfill His word, to bring transformation.
That insignificant cloud led to a massive storm that watered the entire land. Bringing relief to everyone.
God’s revelation is always His invitation for our participation. What God reveals, becomes our responsibility. It becomes our opportunity.
God’s intention has always been that we would be His instrument of power, of impact, of transformation. He reveals His truth and His intentions, and they become our mandate. To bring life and hope.
Like Elijah, it frequently requires overcoming spiritual resistance. Initiative, tenacity, and persistence are the hallmarks of mature faith.
Recognizing revelation as our call to action. It defines our purpose and becomes the opportunity for promotion and advancement. And God is glorified.

When God's people finally left the wilderness stage of their experience and began to move into the land God had planned as inheritance, it was only the beginning. This was just the beginning of the greater blessings and benefits that God intended for His people. The beginning of the amazing things awaiting them. As soon as they sampled that first blessing, the fruit of the land, the manna ceased. The manna that had been God's provision was being replaced with something even better.

Economists are calling it the "Whiplash Effect." After a post-pandemic surge, wages are under pressure and hiring is declining. Inflation is eroding purchasing power; people's money just doesn't go as far. Does it seem you just can't win? Is it all bad news or is there any hope? Do we just hold on? Or can we advance? Coming out stronger? That our lives and blessings would overflow to others? Deuteronomy 8:18 reminds us that, "And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is to this day."
