Have you ever had a nightmare and then awakened and couldn't catch your breath? I know that nightmares can be so alarming that we almost hyperventilate in our sleep, only to awaken rather short-winded. But, this time it was different; really different. Allow me to explain my dream and the evil spirit involved. I have been a teacher of dreams and visions for over twenty years and have written extensively about their significance in my book, Dream On, Keys to Unlocking Dreams and Visions. However, what I am sharing in this article is relevant for this season because I am exposing the fact that the enemy desires to yoke us with premature death. It could be death to a dream, death to vision or even a physical assignment. Let me just say that I had this dream on Sunday night, November 8, before the terrorist assignment in France. I am not sure if the dream was an alert to pray against terrorism; however, the dream did expose an assignment of premature death. In the dream, I felt that it was a more "personal" call to empower others against death assignments that come in many forms. However, as a prophet-intercessor, I heeded the call to pray corporately against death assignments.Yet, dear ones do not fear! Terrorism is all about fear and terror and the enemy desires that we embrace fear. Yes, the enemy desires that we do not retaliate in our authority, but rather become fearful cave dwellers just as the Israelites did when the Midianites, Amalekites and tribes from the East plundered their territory! (See Judges 6). Again, our enemy wants us to be tormented with fear, but we must not hide nor run, but embrace our spiritual authority and continue to demonstrate Kingdom authority! And, remember this article is to provide information so that you can be empowered to know the strategy of the enemy in order to defeat him! Let me also remind you that we are instructed by Apostle Paul to "…not be ignorant of the wiles of Satan." And he reminds us to "…put on the whole armor of God that ye would be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (2 Cor 2:11, Eph 6:11) (KJV).
The "Wiles" of the Devil
The word "wiles" comes from a Greek word methodeia which is where we get our English word "method." Interestingly, it is derived from two specific Greek words: meta and hodos. The word meta means "in the midst" and the word hodos means "to travel over (as in a journey) and to lie in wait". I believe it is safe to say that a method of our enemy is to get us off the paths of God through fear, anxiety and even unbelief, and to lie in wait so that he can destroy us and/or abort our destiny. Think about how the enemy attempts to be in our midst and we do not recognize the fact that many times it is his voice speaking rather than God's! We need spiritual discernment to discern the evil whispers of our enemy and his evil strategies. John 10:2-5 encourages us to know His voice and not follow the voice of a stranger…yet "strangers" are attempting to be among us and maintain a voice!
I am contemplating now the strategies of current terrorist attacks, actually any attack of Satan (and in my personal opinion the manifestation of an Antichrist spirit…more on that in just a bit!) and how one of their "methods" is to infiltrate and "be among us" and "in our midst" without our knowing it! Dear ones, Satan desires to attack us, derail us, sidetrack us, steal our vision and bring death. But, let's remember this as we keep reading- God promises that He gives us life-long life - and that He is giving it to us in abundance! Let's begin to stand on that promise - NOW!
I am not negating the devastation we have witnessed through the horrors of war and terrorism. I am simply encouraging believers to stand on God's Word, declare Psalm 91 over our lives and to trust God. His Word says this about our enemy… "The thief comes not but to kill, steal and destroy. I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." This is a scripture we must declare in this season so that we can break off yokes of death assignments and be mantled with our godly authority.
My Dream of Python Snakes
In my aforementioned dream, I had entered a storage room. As I swung open the door, I noticed a large snake slither out from behind the door. I screamed, of course (I absolutely hate snakes - any kind of snake!), and as I was jumping about dodging it I noticed that it was a python snake. The door swung open wider as more pythons pushed against the door, trying to get outside of their place of containment.
As I was taking all this in, I was reminded in my dream how a python snake squeezes the breath out of its victim in order to suffocate it and then devour its prey. I thought to myself "I'm going to die!" And, then I awoke. But, and this is significant, when I awoke, there was a very evil presence in my bedroom. Again, I am familiar with the dream world and heaven's language spoken through out dreams. But, to awaken from a nightmare and know there is an evil presence in the room is a clear sign that the nightmare was exposing the plan of the enemy…and the enemy was in my room with me!
I began to feel as if I were suffocating….then, I actually started choking! My husband, Mickey, was awakened and began to pray. I felt a cold chill; it was the chill of death! How did I know? I have had this chill before during a near-death experience. I knew for certain that I was battling a premature spirit of death. After a few moments, I was able to scream out, "It's a death assignment! Mickey, break it off!" Mickey broke the power of the evil spirit and I was finally able to breathe normally again. I heard the Lord say this to me - "The enemy is attempting to yoke my people with death assignments - especially premature death." Again, this was given before the recent terrorism in France. These plans of the enemy are personal and corporate. And, the fact that the pythons were in the "storage" room signifies that Satan has "stored up" plans to defeat us. I have heard it said before and I can't stress this enough… "To be forewarned is to be forearmed." Let's put on the armor of God and arm ourselves with His Word.
Being Yoked
Most of us can picture a yoke and its purpose in the natural. Likewise, we have learned that in the spiritual realm, a yoke can bind us either to God's covenant promises or to the evils of the enemy. The python spirit is strongly connected to a Jezebel assignment and witchcraft. In my recent book, The Jezebel Yoke, Breaking Free from Bondage and Deception (click to order)¸ I go to great lengths discussing how the enemy yokes God's children and steals their destiny. The python spirit is crafty in its plans to yoke us with false prophecy. How does the enemy do this? By falsely prophesying to us concerning our callings, our future, and our destiny. This spirit goes for the jugular - it attacks our identity! For example, Satan will say, "You're not called of God." Or, "God doesn't love you. You have messed up and God can't use you!" Or better yet- and probably the most obvious now… "You can't pray and defeat the plans of the enemy. What makes you believe that your prayers are effective?" Believer, you are a chosen, set apart child of God! You have a destiny to fulfill. But, the enemy has come to deceive you and lie to you concerning your identity in Christ and the power in which you walk.
If Satan can deceive you into believing a lie, then you become yoked with that lie. And, again, if a python spirit is at work, then Jezebel is also on the prowl plotting against your life. When yoked with Jezebel, you will encounter not only death assignments, but also fear, loss, discouragement and disappointment.
The Antichrist Spirit
In my recent book, Conquering the Antichrist Spirit: Discerning and Defeating the Seducer That Binds Believers Today (click to order), was written NOT to expose a particular person that will be known as the false ruler in the last days, but to explain HOW the methods and "wiles" of the spirit of Antichrist attack the minds of believers. The enemy has targeted our minds and belief systems since the Garden. The Antichrist spirit is obviously everything anti-Christ; in other words, it will attempt to discredit all that Christ has done at the Cross, through its lies and many deceptions. The fact that we believe his lies is proof that we must continue to renew our minds to God's truths. If we will do this, fear has to flee because perfect love casts out all fear (see 1 John 4:18). Once we renew our minds to the truth that no matter what occurs and no matter what we have done, God still loves us; we will begin to rule and reign over fear and terror in our lives. I agree that terrorist attacks are a corporate endeavor of evil; however, our personal victory over fear is necessary so that corporately we can decree and declare God's victory over the plans of our enemies.
Terrorism is all about many being deceived to believe lies of a false doctrine that is completely anti-Christ. And through terror and fear, it can cause us, as believers, to believe the lie that these satanically-inspired terrorist acts are "bigger" and more powerful than God. The Antichrist spirit operates through deception and false religion and will attempt to seduce us to believe his many lies also. I highly recommend reading my book on this subject if you are battling strongholds of the mind during this season because it will teach you how to tear down mind-binding spirits that attempt to deceive you and lead you astray concerning the power of our God, the one true and living Lord.
Breaking off the Yoke of Death
I have had personal experience with death assignments. I am not writing to frighten you, but to empower you! Those with deep roots of rejection and abandonment are easy targets for the enemy. Therefore, it's important that you receive God's love and forgiveness for your past and that you cycle into the fullness of life that God has given to you!
It is so important that we come out from under any yoke of legalism so that religious spirits cannot remain attached to us as we begin to walk in freedom. I'm referring to being empowered to witness freedom of fear, freedom from the fear of death, freedom from bondage etc. If you recall, Jezebel was very "religious." Problem was, she worshipped the wrong god! And, in reality, we are at war with a spirit that seduces others to worship the wrong god! The result is murder, fear and terror.
When influenced by a Jezebel spirit, we are yoked with performance and religion rather than pure relationship with God. Think of how atrocities are occurring now all in the name of "false religion." This is truly a form of religious legalism.
Dear believer, God is more concerned with the condition of our hearts rather than what we actually "do" for Him. Scripture tells us that, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." (Gal 5:1). Dear one, the enemy desires to enslave us with religious works and traditions. A python spirit tries to deceive us and falsely prophesy that "we're just not doing enough" and then we will work and work and work- attempting to please God. Dear believer, are we wearing ourselves out- becoming so exhausted- and opening a door to exhaustion, sickness and disease through "religious performance? Well, yes, some of us are! I have been there-done that- bought the t-shirt! But, the reason I am writing is so that we can position ourselves properly in prayer and, therefore, receive our mantles of authority rather than to bow down to religious legalism and fear.
The Ministry of Death - The Law
When we realize that we are righteous in Christ and already holy because of all that Christ accomplished at the Cross, we will therefore break off yokes of death! Remember the Law is a ministry of "death!" (See 2 Cor 3:7) If we are working at being holy, then we are bowing down to religious legalism. To do this would completely negate the finished work of Christ at the Cross. I'll never forget the day that I actually understood that religious legalism commanded some type of religious act to become acceptable to God…and that I need not perform any longer because of the Cross!
Legalism and religious performance yoke us with deception and death.
Attempting to obey a set of rules in order to be approved by God negates Christ's sacrifice. Only through His death are we righteous. False religion says that "works" get them to heaven. We, as Christians, know this false belief is a lie. Yet, are we allowing that lie to infiltrate our own belief systems to a certain degree?
Believer, you can break off the yoke of deception and death by repenting (changing your mind) for religious works and self-righteousness and, therefore, experience the fullness of life and God's freedom!
Maybe you have heard some of these other lies:

You're a failure.
-
You're worthless.
-
You've committed so much sin- God can never forgive YOU!
-
You deserve to be punished.
Believer, these are just a few other examples of how easily we become yoked with deception and death when we believe the seductive lies of the enemy. However, God desires to break that yoke and then mantle you with a new level of spiritual authority. Simply repent right now for believing the lies of the enemy and then run to the Throne of God to receive His love and grace to finish the race!
Receive Your New Mantle of Authority
The Lord has a fresh anointing for you as well as a new mantle of authority! Satan knows this and this is why he has been attacking us all! The dream I had was a warning and a "heads up" for me and you! I want my new mantle, don't you?
Let's never take our minds off of all that the Word says. Scripture says that the anointing will break off yokes! (See Isaiah 10:27) Therefore, as you receive your fresh anointing from the Lord (right now, do this by faith!), it will break off yokes! Yes, the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing on your life. All we have to do is confess it and believe it and then walk in it! As I write in my book, The Jezebel Yoke (click to order) "…In Hebrew, the sense of 'anointing' is literally; from the 'face of oil.' I love this definition, because to me it means that when we look at Jesus, we see His face, fully anointed with oil. After all, He is 'Christ,' the 'Anointed One.'" (pages 172-173).
Looking again at Gideon and the Midianites in Judges 6; when God called Gideon, the Scripture tells us he was "mantled" by God. Actually, it says that Gideon was "clothed" by God. At one time, he was yoked with fear of the Midianites, but when God called him into his destiny; it was then that God "clothed" Gideon "with Himself!" Yes, Gideon went forth in the power of God's might! Dear ones, will you allow God to clothe you right now? He desires to anoint you, break off yokes, and mantle you with His might! Let's decide right now to cycle out of fear, oppression and believing lies concerning ourselves so to position ourselves to be clothed by God and His divine truth concerning us and our destiny!
Terrorism, Jezebel spirits, spirits of terrorism nor any python spirit, etc., has no right to take our lives or cause us to fear! These spirits may be lying in wait, but we can rise up in our new mantles and use our godly authority and continue demonstrating God's Kingdom on this earth! Though in my dream, the enemy has plans that are "stored up," let's begin to pray and receive our new mantles of authority today. Our prayers are effective and when we pray, we are in agreement with God and His perfect will. Remember, the Word says that the prayers of the righteous are effective!
My Prayer for You
Father, thank You for Your faithfulness. No matter what it looks like in the natural, Your Word is truth and light. Thank You for protecting us. You have promised to protect us from the wicked One. We trust in You and Your Word. Thank You for raising each of us up during this season to become Your mighty warriors for the Kingdom's cause! Thank You for victory strategies in this season. I bind the powers of darkness that are attacking Kingdom purposes in the lives of Your people. We, as a corporate Body, come into agreement with the plans from Heaven. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen
A Prayer for You to Pray
Holy Spirit, I come to You completely submitted to the Father's divine plan for my life. I realize that I am an anointed vessel and that I have been believing a lie concerning my identity. I repent for not stepping into my destiny and believing that I am Your anointed child and a son/daughter of God. I realize that I am anointed and set apart for such a time as this. Thank you for Your anointing on my life. Thank You that all yokes are being broken off of me. I am now positioned to receive a new mantle of authority. I choose to be clothed in Your divine might so that I may demonstrate Your glory and Your Kingdom on earth. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
