A Trumpet People by Lanny Swaim

Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.  The lion hath roared, who will not fear?  The Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophesy? Amos 3:7-8 Much can be learned from the writings of Jewish sages and rabbis, not found in the Bible but kept and handed down for centuries.  I have discovered something very significant, taught by these sages and rabbis regarding the prophetic fulfillment of the Feasts of God. The three main feasts are Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles, with Passover and Tabernacles being three part feasts, making a total of seven feasts.

Understanding Prophetic Scripture

Much can be learned from the writings of Jewish sages and rabbis, not found in the Bible but kept and handed down for centuries.  I have discovered something very significant, taught by these sages and rabbis regarding the prophetic fulfillment of the Feasts of God.

The three main feasts are Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles, with Passover and Tabernacles being three part feasts, making a total of seven feasts.  According to sages and rabbinical teaching, without an understanding of the prophetic significance of and a working knowledge of the Feasts of God, it is impossible to understand the New Testament, which they say, is written in the language of the feasts.

Prophetically speaking, the fulfillment of Passover and Pentecost has been experienced by the Church; Passover having to do with the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus at the time of the crucifixion (salvation) and Pentecost having to do with the birth of the Church and the Church Age.  But the Church has not yet experienced the fulfillment of Tabernacles, when Christ will be fully formed in believers (see Galatians 4:19 AMP), bringing the Church to completion/perfection (see Ephesians 5:27), which in turn will ultimately bring about the restitution of all things (see Acts 3:21).

The first part of the Feasts of Tabernacles is the Feast of Trumpets.  In ancient Israel trumpets were used when an important announcement was to be made, such as a call to arms when war was imminent.  The focus of this prophetic teaching is the prophetic fulfillment of the Feast of Trumpets, which I believe we are presently experiencing on the timeline of history.

Prophesying Prophetic Scripture

Today God is making a very important announcement to the Church, as we enter this new day on the timeline of history.  Peter said a day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as a day (see 2 Peter 3:8), quoting from and interpreting Psalm 90:4.

Before Peter made his statement comparing a day to a thousand years, he said, "Beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing."  He placed great emphasis on this mathematical equation, which I have come to believe is a key to understanding the entire Bible and God's dealing with mankind on the timeline of history.

There is a direct correlation between the seven days of creation and the seven millennia the Bible focuses on.  We know the seventh day of creation was the Sabbath, when God rested from his work.  On the timeline of history, we have now crossed the threshold of the seventh millennium, which is the ultimate Sabbath that the seventh day of creation and all the Sabbaths of the law point the way to.

The writer of Hebrews said there remains a rest for the people of God (see Hebrews 4:9).  This is a prophetic scripture pointing the way to the day (millennium) we are now living in.

As we progress into this new day on the timeline of history, God is preparing and positioning a remnant of the Body of Christ to be the first fruits of the coming prophetic fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles.  The process that has been preparing this remnant is that of rather intense and severe tests and trials, building in them the character of God in a greater measure than they have known in the past, bringing them to a place of rest (not before realized as completely as now) in the finished work of Christ accomplished at the time of the crucifixion, and positioning them to be at the forefront of the greatest spiritual awakening the world has ever experienced.

Surely We Were Born for Such a Time as This

Those of us who are of this remnant (and there are many throughout the world) need to understand why the Lord has dealt with us so severely, which requires an understanding of the feasts.  We are in the beginning stages of becoming the first fruits of a people fully indwelled by Christ (having experienced a greater dying to self than ever before; allowing Him to live His life in and through us), and we cannot help but prophesy to the rest of the Body of Christ that which is coming, literally speaking it into existence.

We are a trumpet people, prophesying the most glorious time in history since the creation.  We are getting a glimpse of and tasting of a time when Christ will be fully formed in His people, ultimately bringing about the fulfillment of Revelation 11:15, when the nations of the world have become the Kingdom of our Lord and His Christ, enabling the restitution of all things.

We can see the possibilities as the political landscape is changing in the United States, having an effect on the entire world.  And soon we will see great strides toward the prophetic fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles as the greatest spiritual awakening ever experienced by mankind (which has already started in third world countries), spreads to the western world.

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Luke 21:28
