The Story of Christmas
By Dr. Tim Hamon
In the Bible you will find the Christmas story, but not the story of Christmas.
The word Christmas literally means the mass of Christ. In historical churches a mass is basically a service, a religious celebration in honor of something. A typical mass is simply in honor of our relationship with God. Some masses though are in someone's particular honor. In December, we celebrate the birth of Christ, so they've developed the Christ mass, from which the word Christmas has evolved.
