God’s Timing and Purpose Determine Happenings
Things happening and being fulfilled on earth are mainly the result of God’s timing and purpose. For hundreds of years Jews looked for their Messiah to appear. Many Jewish women hoped they would be the mother of the man-child who would be the promised Messiah.,/p>
Through the centuries, devout priests who knew the Scriptures concerning a coming Messiah no doubt fasted and prayed earnestly for Christ to appear in their time. They especially prayed this way when they were being oppressed. They cried out for their great deliverer to come and bring deliverance from their enemies and restoration of their land. God gave them kings like David, Hezekiah, and Josiah who brought reformation and prosperity to the nation. But all their praying, fasting, pleading, and even prophesying about a Messiah coming did not make it happen in their day.
