How Your Pivotal Moments Create Space for Miracles by Kristi Lemley

Pivotal moments can either line us up to watch God work in miraculous ways or discourage us and trigger us to push Him away. They can be life-changing or day-to-day experiences. How we interact with these opportunities will determine if we witness miracles, signs, and wonders. Mark 5 tells the story of Jairus, who was desperate for a miracle for his daughter. She was sick with no hope of recovering. The love of this father drove him to the feet of Jesus.

The first pivotal decision Jairus made was to press into the Lord. He knew Jesus was his only answer. Jesus is not one answer to a solution, but the only answer. You and I must recognize this to receive our own miracles. Hebrews 4:16 (NIV) reminds us, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” We will never experience healing, deliverance, or provision when we give up and walk away from a relationship with the Lord. Press into the lover of your soul!

Next during the story of Jairus, Jesus interacts and heals the woman with the issue of blood, which delays Him. It is during this time that people come and tell Jairus that his daughter is dead. They instruct him to leave the teacher alone and no longer bother him with the request to heal the child. Yet during this pivotal moment, Jairus made another decision that drove him closer to his miracle. He decided to listen to the words of Jesus that instructed him to only believe.

What voices are you listening to today? If you want to see a miracle, then you will have to silence every other voice but the voice of truth. Paul instructs us in 2 Corinthians 10:5, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

Finally, Jairus continues to walk with Jesus to his home. Once there, Jesus took over. Jairus had to complete the first two acts, but the third step only our Lord could do: remove doubt. Jesus put out everyone from the room except those who were necessary. This reminds us of another father who pressed into Jesus to heal his child: “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us, and help us.’ ‘If you can’?' said Jesus. ‘Everything is possible for one who believes.’ Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, ‘I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!'” (Mark 9:22-26).

Ask the Lord to remove doubt and prompt needed faith.

Pivotal moments come and go, but if you want to see God work, you must create space for Him to respond. Recognize that He is your only answer and cry out to Him. Turn off hearing any voice but your loving heavenly Father’s, for He will speak truth to you. Be still and know that He alone can replace doubt with faith.

Go ahead. What are you waiting for? The stage is set. Which will play out in your pivotal moment: moving away from God or witnessing divine intervention on your behalf?
