Opening Up the Wells Inside by John Belt

By John Belt
God wants to open up the well of our spirit so that we can experience the fullness of His Spirit from the inside out. That begins with us connecting with Him, discovering intimacy and allowing His Spirit to make intercession through us. Ezekiel 43:2 "And behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east. His voice was like the sound of many waters; and the earth shone with His glory." God's voice is powerful. When God speaks from heaven it shakes the earth with impact and force. If you can imagine the power of God's voice as exemplified in the beginning as He created the heavens and the earth along with everything in it. There is such power in the voice of God. God said, "Let there be light" and there it was as with everything else He spoke into existence.

God wants to open up the well of our spirit so that we can experience the fullness of His Spirit from the inside out. That begins with us connecting with Him, discovering intimacy and allowing His Spirit to make intercession through us.

I. The Voice of God Breaking Into the Earth

Ezekiel 43:2 "And behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east. His voice was like the sound of many waters; and the earth shone with His glory."

God's voice is powerful.

Psalms 29:5 "The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars, Yes, the Lord splinters the cedars of Lebanon."

II. Your Voice & His Voice Merge

Exodus 9:1 "Then the Lord said to Moses, "Go in to Pharaoh and tell him, 'Thus says the Lord God of the Hebrews: "Let My people go, that they may serve Me."

God is after our union with Him – thus the term "comm-union". By His Spirit he brings us into a place of unity and alignment with His heart and mind. As we connect with His heart he reveals His will and desires to the point where His thoughts become words in our mouths.

2 Corinthians 13:14 "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen."

Through this unity with His Spirit we being to agree and speak out His higher plans and purposes in prayer and proclamation where heaven breaks through into the earth. God delights in partnering with us – even allowing us to be a part of the glory being revealed.

In this we speak as His representatives – even "re-presenting" Him to the world. There is a great need for this as He has not and is not always presented accurately to the world. Because of this, when you see something that you know is not being represented properly don't throw the "baby out with the bathwater" but take your place and present Him correctly. That is our call as His representatives.

Revelation 5:10 "And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth."

We are a kingdom of priests or "kings and priests" in Christ. Just as the saints in the Book of Revelation are clothed in white robes, so by the blood of Christ we've obtained His righteousness and favor. We are also set apart to God where His righteousness is revealed through our lives from the inside out by the Holy Spirit within us. So not only did we receive robes of righteousness over us but the Holy Spirit within us that displays and "re-presents" Him as He is in all holiness being seen in our lives. This is our priestly privilege and devotion to God.

As you look down the biblical timeline of those who represented God you will see Enoch, Abraham, Moses, Samuel, David, Elijah, Elisha and many others who were all named as "prophets" – Jesus Himself as "The Prophet" that Moses spoke about also closely associating Himself with the prophets. In the simplest of terms a prophet is one who is close to the heart of God, lives a life of holiness through the "Holy" Spirit that glorifies God – even demonstrating His love for God, follows His commands and speaks His words. With a life saturated with the Spirit we can speak with authority what God has revealed to us. Here we walk in His grace as priests and kings.

Romans 8:6 "Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever]."

Religion seduces people into slumber while the prophetic awakens people to His truth. The religious mindset is always compromising – embracing people pleasing as the way to success cloaking it to look legit when it is counterfeit. It is the road of compromise. God calls us to a higher place in His Spirit and walk with Him where we can be conduits of His glory in the earth. He is not looking for perfect vessels but surrendered, filled with His Spirit and that will follow Him where He leads.

Revelation 14:4 "These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb."

III. The Fuel of Intercession & Prayer

The spirit of Intercession fuels the prophetic voice. Your life of devotion before God in prayer opens up the heavens releasing revelation into your life. Revelation and information are not equal or the same. You can have a lot of good biblical information but it is dead to you because it is simply ritual.

The good news is your information can become revelation, light and be transforming as you devote yourself to God in worship and prayer. No spiritual hunger or prayer life equals no clear or substantial movement of the Spirit in your life – and no revelation or prophetic life. The letter kills but the Spirit gives life.

Romans 8:26 "Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."

The spirit of prayer is essential for the prophetic to be activated in your life.
