Many of us are familiar with the anointing. There is an anointing that God gives to each of us that is for our walk with God. His anointing teaches us all things. This anointing is for the inner life. There are other anointings that we pay a price for. When Jesus was entering into His 3 year stretch of ministry He went into the desert with fasting and prayer. When we came out He was ready for ministry.  In the same way we see this picture in the Book of Acts with the 120 in the upper room waiting for the promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit. You would think sense the 11 had been with Jesus for 3 years that they would be qualified just by association. Jesus told them to go and wait. Most people these days would not think twice about this. Many would say that they already had the best training in the world. But God had bigger plans that would require a greater anointing of the Spirit.

There is golden oil, an anointing of His Presence, that God has to pour out.

1.    By My Spirit the Mountains are Moved

Zechariah 4:6-7 "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:  'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the Lord of hosts.  'Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain!'"

We absolutely cannot accomplish the purposes of God in our own strength. We need the power of the Spirit to blow the mountainous obstacles out of the way. Our sensitivity to the Spirit is needed to see results. The way man defines accomplishment and the way God sees it are completely different. God is after the results that are eternal, not temporal.  God does not see the way that man sees.  What the natural mind views as accomplishment is not necessarily accomplishment in God's eyes.

2.    Shouts of Grace! Laying the Right Foundation

Zechariah 4:8-9  "And he shall bring forth the capstone with shouts of 'Grace, grace to it!'  Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 'The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; His hands shall also finish it. Then you will know'"

God's grace is the only good foundation for our lives. Our trust must be found solely in the grace of God if we are to build anything.  It will lay the right foundation for our thinking and actions.  We start with God's grace. We continue by God's grace and we finish by God's grace.  Thank God for His grace!

3.    The Day of Small Things

Zechariah 4:10a "That the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you.  For who has despised the day of small things?"

In this day so much credibility is given to the things that are big, large and grandiose.  Little credit is given to the things that are small and just in beginning stages.  But don't you know that when God does something new in most every case (if not every case) it starts off small.  Do not despise the day of small things.  What God conceives in one day has the potential to impact people for generations.

4.    The Standard: The Golden Oil

Zechariah 4:10b-12 "For these seven rejoice to see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel.  They are the eyes of the Lord, which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth."  Then I answered and said to him, "What are these two olive trees - at the right of the lampstand and at its left?"  And I further answered and said to him, "What are these two olive branches that drip into the receptacles of the two gold pipes from which the golden oil drains?"

God's glory is the standard, the plumb line.  He will settle for nothing less than what originates from the glory of His Presence.  In the same way, we cannot settle for less that what originates from heaven.  The golden oil is the purity and anointing of God.  Gold is representative of that which is valuable and pure.  The oil represents His anointing.  When we have lives that carry this pure oil of His Presence, we will walk in places that we have not ever walked before.

5.    The 2 Anointed Ones (Unity & Action)

Zechariah 4:13-14 "Then he answered me and said, "Do you not know what these are?" And I said, "No, my lord." So he said, "These are the two anointed ones, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth."

Why two anointed ones?  Why not just one?  The reason is for the work of the Lord.  These two are representative of those who walk in unity. They were sent out in twos in the Book of Acts.  The position is where unity is found - beside the Lord of the whole earth.  We can try to find unity in all the natural ways we can conceive, but until He has a people who are "standing with Him" there will be no unity.  There is no true power or unity apart from standing beside the Lord.  This is why these two are anointed.  It will be why we are anointed as well.   We must stand together beside the Lord of the whole earth to have His golden oil flowing through us.

This is the second piece - His golden oil flowing through us.  This is where we are activated.  In the place of His Presence we have stepped into a place where we can have earthly impact from a heavenly place.  Is that not what we are called to?  Has He not seated us with Him in the heavenly realms?  This is normal life for the believer.  It is in this place where we experience Him and become vessels where His golden oil flows through us into the earth.  

Heaven on Earth!
