The Power of Pressure by Georgina Buchanan

By Georgina Buchanan
When I was a little girl my life was not like other little girls my age.  There was a difference that I felt but did not understand. Although I was born into a family that was centered as Christians on Father God, we had little revelation of who Jehovah Avinu, (Lord, our Father God) really was, therefore we had little revelation of who our Father God had created us to be as individuals.  Like many Christian parents in that era of time their efforts came out of a fear mindset instead of love, power and sound mindedness. (2 Timothy 1: 7)

There is a false sense of safety in being fear minded; you stay huddled together separated from the world, instead of living in our God given dominion.  The enemy of our soul steals our destiny by making us believe this world belongs to him and that he is in control.  That is such a lie; Satan only has what he steals.  He cannot create anything, but he steals everything through distortion and lies, if you are NOT operating through the mind of Christ, you will BELIEVE everything the enemy says.

Positive Pressure

That brings me to the title of this article, The Power of Pressure.  Pressure can make you or it can destroy you, the choice is really yours to make.  Genesis 50:19-20 speaks of intended harm, but instead Father God uses it for the fulfillment of Father God's plans.  The enemy intends to destroy us through the hardships (pressures) of this life, but when we think like Christ thinks that same pressure is turned into our fulfillment and Father God's glory.

The greatest example of that is the way a diamond is formed.  A diamond is the result of what intense heat and massive pressure does to carbon. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond) WOW! Isn't that an awesome example of the effects of pressure?  The pressure comes from the outside not the inside.  Medical doctors warn against pressure.  Its effects can cause heart disease, stomach ulcers, high blood pressure just to name a few, so you can see what happens when we take life's pressures into our souls, or as the Bible calls it, our hearts.

Proverbs 4:23 tells us to guard our heart, because everything in our life flows from that.  Our heart is the same as our soul, which consists of our mind, will, and emotions.  However, Acts 17:28 says "IN HIM I live and move and have my being" (emphasis/personalization mine). Therefore I am IN this world - BUT not of this world.  I am a spiritual being-having a physical experience, not a physical being trying to be spiritual.

Like people, the pressure comes in all different shapes and sizes.  The bigger the stress/problem the easier it is to identify, therefore easier to focus on and even deal with.  However, it is the smaller stresses that can cause the most difficulties because we weave them into our lives instead of dealing with them.  We accept them as "normal" just as we often tolerate "little" sins as normal.  You know, like going 45mph when the speed limit is 35mph, (everyone does it) or not wearing your seatbelt because you are just going around the corner.  We would never think of these things as sin, but James 4:17 (AMP) says, "So any person who knows to do what is right to do but does not do it to him it is sin."

Now some might say I am being legalistic or meddling, but we know all actions come from the heart.  Now, what has any of this to do with the power of pressure, simply this?  Psalms 119:11 tells us the psalmist cried out, the word of the Lord have I hid in my heart that I sin not against him. (Paraphrased)  Having his word in our heart helps us to know him, and when we know him, we will know ourselves.  The more my Father God reveals himself to me, the more I know who I am and what my destiny is.

Our Destiny

Our destiny is our life assignment not an event in our lives.  When we are "IN HIM" we are not moved by outside events, even traumatic events, which can be so devastating.  Like so many, I have experienced too many of those in my lifetime; and though they are disturbing they do not destroy, because we are grounded in our Father God.  The apostle Paul says it so well in 2 Corinthians chapter 4.

"We are hedged in (pressed) on every side [troubled and oppressed in every way], but not cramped or crushed; we suffer embarrassments and are perplexed and unable to find a way out, but not driven to despair."  2 Corinthians 4:8 (AMP)

When we are "IN HIM" no matter what the pressure might be, whether it is our problem, or someone else's problem, our prayers are more focused and effective because our minds/spirits are clear and not cluttered.  In the past 15 years the pressures of life have greatly increased for so many people all across the globe.  It seems more Christians are surviving, instead of thriving. The body of Christ seems to be unaware of what is happening, and therefore unsure of what to do.

Many are calling for what used to work such as revivals, but my friends, Father God is not going to "DO" another revival; instead he is bringing an "ENCOUNTER" with him to those who are willing.  This encounter will not take place in a building or a tent as in the "good ole days," but it will take place in our hearts, and the results will be YOU and I impacting the world we live in.  Father is changing us from the inside out.  Because we will know who we truly are IN HIM, we will use the authority that the Father has given us to eradicate the pressure that the enemy sends out against us. (Luke 10:19)   We will no longer hide in our closets waiting to escape but just as Jesus did, we will go about doing good. (Acts 10:38, John 14:11-13)

Strength of Identity

The pressure we are all facing no matter what name it might have, financial, physical, emotional or even spiritual, whether it is your pressure or it belongs to someone you care about, that pressure cannot destroy you when you are "IN HIM."  As I have said before in different writing, my husband and I have experienced extreme pressure over the last 12 years.  At times I truly did despair at life itself.  There seemed to be no way through or out, but my heavenly Father in his mercy and grace did not let me escape, but revealed to me that my identity in him was greater than any temporary heartache.  He walked me THROUGH instead of letting me run away.

Though the pressure is still intense to say the least, I KNOW it works within me as a strength of identity the enemy cannot steal by his lies or attacks.  All that the enemy throws my way only causes me to use my God given authority even more; now the enemy runs from me instead of me running from him.  I am as a little child who hides under the shelter of her Fathers wings (Psalms 91: 4) knowing "I AM IN HIM" and nothing can harm me or separate me from my Jehovah Avinu, my Lord, our Father God.

I trust this writing is helpful to you in reminding you that NO WEAPON formed against you can or will prosper, but instead, you will as it says in Isaiah 40:31, RISE UP with wings of eagles, you WILL run and not grow weary you SHALL walk and NOT FAINT!
