When the Prophetic Word Given is Right On, Metaphorically Speaking By Adam Larson

Prov 25:11 To speak a word in due time, is like apples of gold on beds of silver.

When I was very new to the prophetic and just understanding that God still wants to speak to us, not only through the scriptures, but really speak directly to us, like an interactive relationship through conversation with His Holy Spirit.  Well I was happy to know that to say the least, but I was also in that place of "Awe" that the God of All creation wants to speak directly to me. WOW and WOE is to words that came to mind. But I knew it was going to be a good thing.  I needed God no matter what! I craved His spoken word; I felt I needed it to fill a place that seemed hollow within me.  Now looking back I understand that it was because it was a major part of my personal calling in Him that was missing, and I needed to fill that place within me.

Prov 15:23 A person finds joy in giving an apt reply - and how good is a timely word!

I Needed to Hear Him

Knowing that I was forgiven and Jesus paid the price for my sins, helped me to want to hear from my Father in heaven the Most High God.  I really wanted to know what He had to say to me personally.  I was looking for that timely word, when I really didn't even understand what a timely word was.  I just knew I needed to hear Him.

Prov 25:2 It is the glory of God that hides the word, and the glory of the King that seeks for the word.

The first word came through a human vessel, a prophet of God.  Do they still exist I thought?  Well I had an inner witness that they do, because I had just been baptized in the Holy Spirit, months before.  That is how it all started; a deeper hunger for the things of God came after the baptism and filling of Holy Spirit. I received a few prophetic words over that year, and started diving in and learning all about the prophetic.  Then over the next few years I would receive other prophetic words over my life and future ministry.

One of the prophetic words basically talked about a job at the post office and how I would deliver the mail, it also talked about how I would take the test and pass it.  I found out the postal service has a test you have to take just to be eligible for hire.   Interesting I thought! So I started looking into the testing and process of getting hired at the post office.  Well several years went by and I had taken some tests at the post office, and I had even worked for a mail contractor who worked directly for the post office as a semi driver, and even delivered mail in truck loads, but still it just didn't line up with what the prophetic word said, what was going on? Did the prophet miss it? Did I do something wrong? Was it still yet in the future?

Hidden in Metaphors

The years have gone by and I can honestly say I have no desire to literally work for the post office; it's not even on my radar anymore. So what went wrong?  NOTHING!!!!

I finally realized that many times the prophetic message is hidden or disguised in what we call metaphors.  Metaphor (def.) something used, or regarded as being used, to represent something else; emblem; symbol.  So metaphorically speaking I had to pass the test of God in my life, to work for the post office of the Spirit, delivering the mail, prophetic words.  The whole message was about my calling as a prophet in the body of Christ.  Man, I wish I would have known that a long time ago, but I believe the process was part of the test that I went through to be eligible for the promotion of God in my life.  Many times the process is needed even though it is frustrating; being able to look back upon it is the only way we will truly see it for what is was, a process of growth and character building.  I pray that my personal testimony will help you as you may be going through your own tests and processes of your personal prophetic messages, metaphorically speaking. LOL....
