We all know people who are not open or receptive to God or us. I typically move on to people that are open, to buy time for the Holy Spirit to do His job and ripen the fruit. I think they can feel the abandonment in that attitude of leaving them behind. By contrast, Jesus opens hearts and minds, and I believe it is part of our calling as sons to do the same. There is a way to open hearts – It's purpose!
Luke 24:32 – They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked of us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?" NIV
Luke 24:45 – Then he opened their minds (nous) so they could understand the Scriptures. NIV
When Jesus opened their minds in verse 45, the Greek word is nous, which means intellect, mind: by implication "meaning." He opened up the meaning, or the purpose Father had written in their hearts. When someone touches that theme in our hearts, our baby leaps, or our hearts burn. When our purpose theme is verbalized prophetically, we are activated, and our hearts and minds are opened.
Clarity of Purpose
Our church tradition is that preaching or teaching the Bible "converts" or changes us. Some absorb the revelation and anointing on preaching, and they "hear" that their purpose is to be a preacher. So, they adopt ministry as their purpose and store revelation in their inventory of things to share with others. They miss their own purpose and become "hearers" instead of doers. Revelation tickles ears, but when we apply it in our lives, it becomes purpose and motivates our hearts to act on our purpose.
Most people resist being solicited into another person's purpose, and sermons don't touch us. But if someone is interested enough to "hear" our hearts and speak to our purpose, that can be life-changing. Father doesn't speak to us to increase our head knowledge with new revelation. He speaks to give clarity to our purpose in what we do. He is looking for sons who collaborate and co-labor. He wants an army, not an audience.
Heb 4:12-13 – For the word (logos) of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account (Logos). NIV
Logos (3056) – something said (including the thought), also the reasoning or motive (our why or purpose).
Notice verse 12 starts with logos, and vs. 13 ends with logos. Logos is the word of God, but Jesus is the living word. Logos (like nous) also touches on motive or purpose, our why (the motive). When the "why" God wrote in our heart is touched, that causes our hearts to "open." We are all naturally wired to connect with our hearts, and we become much more authentic when that purpose is present. We cooperate with our design and co-labor with our Father to see the fruit of our assignment multiply. Purpose creates value, blesses people, and naturally translates to prosperity. The Kingdom purpose God wrote in our hearts is the natural engine of entrepreneurs and businesses.
Managers Control, Leaders Inspire
We have also been wounded from being sold or shamed into engaging in a purpose outside our hearts. This happens all the time in the business and religious mountains. People are treated like commodities (employees) who need to be shown what to do and how to accomplish someone else's why. It seldom works in the long term. 70% of employees wish they could do something else. The efficiency cost of an unmotivated labor force is trillions world-wide.
Real Leaders Listen
Listening is the first step of connecting someone with their divine purpose and releasing the genius that resides in all of us. This reformation's foundation is that God has written purpose in all of our hearts; whether saved or pre-saved. Heart-connection is the engine of God's Kingdom and the practical driver of cultural reformation. The change and blessing that flowed from Luther's reformation 500 years ago is about to be dwarfed by the blessing of people, businesses, and nations in this reformation.
God is releasing sons with His purpose to reign with Him.
