Landmark, Bestselling Book Now Revised and Updated

Does God really speak through dreams? Are there such things today as visions?

Absolutely, says author and pastor Jane Hamon. And what is more, God wants you to get the message! This concise guidebook unravels the scriptural meanings of dreams and visions, helping you discern when a dream is a prophetic direction for your life, what to do about a warning, how to recognize false messages--and much more.

In this newly revised and updated edition of her popular book, readers are encouraged to look with new eyes at the biblical basis for this everyday language. It is not complicated, says Hamon. The voice of the Lord is speaking. Don't miss what he is saying.

"God is releasing to us prophetic revelation in these last days, and Jane Hamon offers clear, biblical, practical teaching on how to understand and interpret our dreams. This book is a great tool for encouraging, equipping and releasing an army of Daniels and Josephs who can encourage leaders and change nations!" – Che Ahn, Senior Pastor, Harvest Rock Church, President, Harvest International Ministries, Pasadena, California "In our busy world, many times we fail to slow down and communicate with a holy God. So, in the quiet of the night, He communicates to us. Dreams and Visions is a key book for this time. God is communicating to His people, and we must learn to interpret what He is saying!" – Chuck D. Pierce, Author of Possessing Your Inheritance, President, Glory of Zion International, Colorado Springs, Colorado
"This is a fascinating book! If you dream, you need to read Dreams and Visions." – Cindy Jacobs, Author of The Voice of God and Women of Destiny, Cofounder, Generals of Intercession, Colorado Springs, Colorado It is indeed rewarding to see these timely, scriptural truths being clearly taught in Dreams and Visions. I heard Jane Hamon teach on this subject and was deeply impressed. She has done her homework and teaches both in a scholarly and experiential way. – Fuchsia T. Pickett, Author of The Next Move of God, Blountville, Tennessee
God communicates to His people today, but many times He is missed or misunderstood. Jane Hamon brings remarkable clarity to a frequent form of God's communication in her book. I love the very practical and scriptural way Jane addresses the topic. Dreams and Visions is a must for all who desire to clearly hear the voice of the Lord. – Barbara Wentroble, Author of Prophetic Intercession and A People of Destiny, Duncanville, Texas I frequently find myself a bit edgy when people begin telling me about their dreams and visions, partly because I have observed more than enough naiveté and superficiality when the subject comes up. Now maybe things will be different. Jane Hamon skillfully and sensitively dispels the fog surrounding the issue of our dreams with insightful biblical information combined with personal experience. Do not miss this book! – C. Peter Wagner, Chancellor, Wagner Leadership Institute, Colorado Springs, Colorado

From the Foreward: "Do you think God speaks to people today?"

This was the first question - almost the first words - spoken to me by a national political leader I met with recently. I was a bit taken aback. "Well, yes, I do," I replied. He wanted to know why I believed this, how one could be sure and the answers to a few other well-though-out questions. It seems he had recently experienced some very detailed and interesting dreams about our nation. It was an enlightening meeting.

This leader's questions are not unusual. The proliferation of interests today in psychic reading, horoscopes, Eastern religions and various other attempts to contact the realm of the supernatural all attest to people's innate desire to hear from God. Many don't realize this is what (or Whom) they are seeking; but those of us who have had this need met by Him realize it is the Lord we all seek.

God does indeed speak to people today. The prophet Joel prophesied:

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy (Acts 2:17,18, KJV).

As the Holy Spirit is poured out in great measure on today's Church, we should anticipate God's speaking to us through prophetic dreams and visions. God is ready, by His Spirit, to expose the counterfeit and satisfy the yearnings of the human race to hear from Him. Once again the hunger and curiosity of the world represent opportunities for God and the Church.

The question is, Will we, the people of God, be ready with the answers they need? Or, as is sadly the case at times, must they resort to the counterfeit measures of Satan to satisfy their hunger? I pray that we will be prepared. If we are, it will be solid, balanced, biblical works such as this book that will help prepare us.

In the Scripture, God often spoke through dreams and visions.

Jacob's life was radically impacted by a series of dreams.

God revealed Joseph's destiny through dreams.

Another Joseph, Christ's stepfather, was instructed through dreams at lest four times concerning issues surrounding the birth of our Lord.

Unrighteous King Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams from the Almighty.

Pilate's wife - probably not a follower of Jehovah - was warned in a dream about her husband's dealings with Christ.

The apostles Peter, Paul and John were given visions by the Holy Spirit.

The Scriptures contain more than 50 references to God's sending messages to people through dreams or visions! He assures us that in the last days this will continue.

Yes, we can expect god to speak to us today through dreams and visions. Obvious and appropriate questions then arise:

- How do we know when a dream or vision is from God?
- How do we recognize false messages in dreams?
- How do we interpret our dreams?
- What do we do when a dream contains a warning?
- How do we steward such subjective ways of hearing from God?

These questions deserve answers. In fact, not knowing the answers has probably scared off sincere Christians, including leaders, more than anything else, from seriously considering the meaning of their dreams.

As a pastor I have found the prophetic to be a very challenging aspect of the Spirit's work to steward. The subjectivity of the prophetic lends itself to abuses, and I've had my share of questionable "words from the Lord" given to me by well-meaning people. The temptation - I've seen it done and have done it myself - is to shy away from the prophetic to avoid such mistakes and abuses. Nothing could make Satan happier!

Our inability and/or unwillingness to hear from the Lord today is the primary cause of an anemic Church. Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) tells us, "Where there is no vision, the people perish." The word "vision" in this verse is translated from the Hebrew word chazown and means much more than just a vision or plan for the future. It is literally any communication from the Lord, regardless of the means of delivery, including dreams, visions and any other form of revelation. Where communication from the Lord is not present, destruction, ruination and death result. Perish the thought! Satan knows this and uses every available means to stop us from receiving God's words, including fostering fears of abuses and inaccuracy.

This is why I appreciate my friend Jane Hamon's book Dreams and Visions so much. She has given us a masterful work to use in stewarding these important aspects of hearing from the Holy Spirit. In fact, I think it is so well done that I am prepared to make an unusual statement: In my 25 years of study and training, I have found no book or teaching aid on this subject that is as biblical, thorough, practical and scholarly as Dreams and Visions.

Who should read this book?

1. Every Christian who wants to understand his or her dreams - and how God may use them to speak to us today.
2. Pastors, teachers, church leaders and Christian counselors - all who have a calling to train, equip and instruct the Body of Christ in the ways of the Lord. Pastor, you especially need no longer fear stewarding these important but subjective says by which the Spirit speaks.

Thank you, Jane, for this extremely important and valuable labor of love. I endorse this superb book with joy, knowing that many will greatly benefit from it. Thank you!
