God's Breath Serves a Purpose by Dr. Tiffany Watkins

By Tiffany Watkins
Can you imagine how powerful the breath of God is that was breathed into our very beings in order for us to exist on this planet?  Does God give us life only to exist or is there a greater purpose for it? I would venture to say that God has a broader purpose for it. I believe that we have been given life so that we can be a light to the world and make a difference. We can use our breath to manifest love and peace and to bring hope and joy to others. We have been given life not just to exist, but to serve a purpose.

Besides giving us physical life, God breathed into us the very DNA and nature of his spirit.  We have been given the breath of life by God for the purpose of maximizing our potential, bringing the capabilities and realities of heaven to earth and encouraging others to follow suit. We should live each day in a way that honors God and brings glory to Him. We should use our talents, abilities, and resources to serve others and help them reach their full potential. We should remember that we serve a God who desires to see us succeed in life and bring us closer to Him.

Genesis 2:7 states, "And the Lord God created man from dust of the ground, and breathed life into his nostrils, and man became a living being." Nashamah is the Hebrew word for breath, meaning breath (of God), breath (of man), and spirit (of man).

According to this verse, man has been made in the image of God and has been infused with the breath of God. As a result, it can be concluded that man is a spiritual being, which differentiates him from other animals.

Man was given life by God when he blew the breath of life into him. In Hebrew, the word life is translated as Chay, which means flowing, lively, active, reviving, and renewing. Each living thing is animated by this breath of life, which gives it purpose, meaning, and life. Everything else is created from it, and everything we hope for comes from it. It is the source of all love and the source of all life.

The potential in man's life was unlimited once God's breath entered his nostrils because it allowed him to live a life that was animated, flowing, alive, and active.  We should imitate the very reviving nature of God, whose presence causes everything around us to come alive and become active. We should strive to live a life that is full of life and activity, making the most of every moment. We should create and cultivate an environment that is full of life, full of joy, and full of hope. This will help us to become the best version of ourselves and ultimately to glorify God.

In order to use the breath of God for God's glory, we can do so in three ways. The first is by being a witness of God's life and hope to others. The second is by living a life of integrity, being an example of God's character. The third is by being a vessel of God's presence, encouraging others with his spirit and love.

May God's presence, his very nature, and the peace of what he gave you through his breath of life inspire and motivate you to live your life in a unique and unlimited flow of God's glory.
