Your Leadership Moment by Randy Gladden

There are moments in life when everything shifts – not by accident but forged by Kingdom assignment. A crisis erupts. Pressure mounts. A need demands answers. And suddenly… you're not just a witness to the moment. You are the answer God has positioned. He has placed you for such a time as this. Esther didn't plan to be queen. She wasn't prepared for the weight of the assignment. But that is the pattern of Kingdom leadership. God raises ordinary people, places them in uncomfortable situations, and uses them for extraordinary outcomes.

There are moments in life when everything shifts – not by accident but forged by Kingdom assignment. A crisis erupts. Pressure mounts. A need demands answers. And suddenly… you’re not just a witness to the moment. You are the answer God has positioned. He has placed you for such a time as this.

Esther didn’t plan to be queen. She wasn't prepared for the weight of the assignment. But that is the pattern of Kingdom leadership. God raises ordinary people, places them in uncomfortable situations, and uses them for extraordinary outcomes.

She found herself queen in a foreign land. Elevated, not luxury, but for legacy. Not for comfort, but for calling. She had no idea that God had positioned her to preserve a nation.

When the plot to destroy God’s people was revealed, her first reaction was fear. Her response was fraught with danger. Stepping into the king’s presence uninvited could mean death. But Mordecai’s words pierced her. If she remained silent, God would deliver from another source. But maybe she had come to her position “for such a time as this.”

That is the nature of Kingdom assignments. They aren’t about you, but what God wants to do through you. Will we rise to the moment? Or retreat from it?

The Pattern of Kingdom Positioning

God doesn’t position His people randomly, but with precision, for influence, impact, and divine intervention.

Some rise to the occasion. They walk into the moment, unlock blessings, and become vessels of breakthrough. Like Joseph, whose leadership saved Egypt and created a place for Israel to become a people of promise.

But not all rise. Some choose to remain in the background, shrinking away from the weight of the call.

The Tragedy of Plan B

Barak was told that God was going to use him to deliver Israel from oppression. But he was too intimidated by the challenge. He refused to step forward unless Deborah, the prophetess, went with him. She agreed, but she also made it clear: “Because of this, the honor will not be yours.”

The victory still came – God is always faithful. But someone else received the honor. Someone else carried a legacy.

How many more – unnamed, unknown – missed their moment? They chose security over significance. Who backed away when Heaven was calling them forward? And the mantle passed to someone else?

Your leadership moment doesn’t come with a grand announcement. It often looks like a crisis. It may feel intimidating. But it is always packed with potential and purpose.

The Myth of Ease

We assume that if God is in it, the path will be smooth. The answer is clear, and the affirmation will be constant. The victory quick.

But Kingdom leadership doesn’t operate that way.

Your moment will come shrouded in pressure, opposition, and uncertainty. It will stretch you to the edge of yourself – so you lean fully on Him. That is how strength is forged. How faith is refined. How calling becomes commission.

A Modern Example: Dan’s Moment

Recently, my friend, Dan, stepped into a new leadership role. Just months in, still getting his bearings, crisis hit. Suddenly, everyone was looking to him for answers. The pressure is intense. The kind that causes your confidence to waver and makes you question if you belong there at all.

But as we processed it together, it became clear: this wasn’t random. This was his leadership moment. God had positioned him, not just to endure, but to be the instrument of breakthrough.

God had placed him there for blessing: for the company, the owners, the employees, and the customers. And ultimately, so that God would get the glory.

Leaning In: The Key to Victory

Esther risked everything to walk into the throne room uninvited. But she didn’t rely on herself. She called fasting and prayer. She knew the source of victory is not in our ability but in God’s leading.

Dan needed a Kingdom strategy beyond human reasoning. That would only come through the Holy Spirit. When you are in a moment bigger than you, lean into a God bigger than the moment.

How to Step into Your Leadership Moment

1) Recognize Your Positioning

If you are there, God has a purpose for you there. Kingdom positioning is never accidental. You’re not just in the room – you were sent to the room.

2) Lean into the Holy Spirit

Esther fasted. Dan prayed. The strategy that brings blessing and breakthrough will be Spirit-led, not self-produced.

3) Trust God’s Process

You may feel uncertain. That’s okay. God doesn’t require perfect understanding – He honors obedient movement. The more you lean in, the more you move forward with God, the more you will discern His leading.

4) Own the Assignment

Even when it’s intimidating. Even when you feel inadequate. Step into it. The challenge is God’s invitation to lead and lean on a strength greater than you.

5) Develop Holy Confidence

Not in yourself, but in the God Who called you. Confidence that He equips those He appoints. He carries those He commissions. Let your confidence be in His faithfulness.

This is Your Moment to Rise

Leadership moments - big and small - are invitations to partner with God. Inflection points where obedience becomes impact. Opportunities to lead with boldness, bring solutions, shift atmospheres, and usher in blessing.

When the moment comes – and it will - realize: God has positioned me for this. He trusts you. He’s with you. And He intends to bring the victory through you. You are called.

The mantel is yours.

This is your assignment.

This is your leadership moment.

This is your time to rise.
